Sars,

I was getting a pedicure the other day and reading a copy of People magazine that had the gift guide in it.There was an ad for a baseball quiz book that had a little electronic score keeper at the bottom. Now I can’t remember the name and all the searches I do come back with nothing. Please help me find this book!It was priced at $24.99 and sounded awesome.

Dear Needy,

The People gift guide appears to be “closed for the season,” whatever that means, so I didn’t have any luck finding it on their site; maybe the readers know the product you’re talking about.Readers?

Found this on Amazon, although it’s $100, but it does have the electronic keypad the writer mentioned.

I saw something kind of like this at Costco a few weeks ago. It had a little electronic guy that told you what question to go to, and then you entered in the multiple choice question, and it told you whether you were correct or not. I can’t turn it up on the costco website right now though, so I’m not sure how much help this actually is. I recall it being between $20-30.

If you scroll down and read the comments from Jane’s link, you can see that it is the one from People and someone stated that although it’s $100 at Amazon, you can probably get it at B&N etc. for $20-25. It looks neat, I’ll bet my son would like that!

Have it right here thanks to the magic of working in a place with a awaiting room.

Obsessed with Baseball is the name, and it says it’s available from amazon.com, but they’re out of stock. In the reviews, however, someone noted that they had called around to their local B&N and Borders and found copies that the stores held for them at the regular price quoted in People.

  • Sarah says:

It’s available for $17 at the B&N site.

Woo Hoo! What a great little product. I just bought it for my baseball-obsessed husband. I didn’t have any gifts for him yet so this was a great find! TN rocks!!

  • Erin says:

Oh wow! Thanks for the great idea for my baseball crazed husband! I didn’t really *need* another gift for him, but he will love this, and I just love getting him things he doesn’t even know exist. I just called my local Borders and they put one on hold for me! Yay! Thank you!

  • Megan says:

That is so bizarre. I just (20 minutes ago) got home from a pedicure where I was looking at the same thing in an old People. I was thinking that would make a great present for just about any of the males in my family.

I know your question has been answered, it’s just one of those things I felt the need to comment on.

  • La BellaDonna says:

@Megan, in a salute to another great American writer and blogger, Erin McKean of DressADay, the term for when you start noticing the same phenomenon ALL THE TIME is called “diegogarcity.”
