I…didn’t know it had gone anywhere. As it says in the article.

  • Sarah says:

Yay! That is made of awesome.

  • Jennifer says:

The Motley Crue installment made me laugh so hard I cried! That was 60 (90?) minutes of my life very well spent back in the day.

  • K. says:

Hell yes! I used to love this show. I watched it even when the subject was a musician/group I’d never heard of. And I was consistently surprised by how much shit went down that I never would have guessed.

  • cayenne says:

Good things never really go away, especially if they’re in endless reruns.

  • SteveL. says:

My favorite was the Stevie Ray Vaughan ep.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@K.: I know! I don’t think I’d even heard of Grand Funk Railroad, but that ep was still riveting.

  • Lauren says:

What Kristina said. I didn’t know they’d even canceled it. That’s so odd.

  • Margaret in CO says:

Ooh, look! An episode guide: http://tinyurl.com/dhwvuv from seasons past!

  • Margaret in CO says:

    (or is that “seasons passed?”)

  • Drew says:

@ Sars: No one knows the band Grand Funk? The wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Shocker? The competent drum work of Don Brewer? Oh, MAN! Thank goodness for Homer Simpson. He has lines suitable for any occasion.

As to the topic at hand, cool. There were some bands/acts that I could have done without, but then there were eps that I would invariably stop to watch every single time they were on (Poison’s comes immediately to mind). It’ll be nice to have it back. I’ve not been a fan of most of VH1’s “Celebreality” lineup. The return of music-related programming to the channel will seem almost refreshing.

  • Sheila says:

There was a NKOTB one? Damn, I’m sorry I missed that.

  • lauren says:

Word on the Poison episode, Drew. CC DeVille: “It was a house of whores…but it became a house of horrors!” I’m hoping for a follow-up to coincide with Bret Michaels’s memoir release (“sex, drugs, rock and roll, and diabetes.”).

  • Bea says:

Awesome! The Journey one was my favorite. Steve Perry is the world’s biggest drama queen and I love him for it.

  • Kelly says:

The Leif Garrett epi was classic.

  • Soylent says:

The NKOTB has been updated for their comeback and there’s far too much positive recent information, instead of stories about drugs and fighting..

The problem with BTM is every time I watch episode I think “Vanilla Ice _ he’s just an misunderstood artist” or “Milli Vanilli they were merely victims of circumstance” because I am extremely suggestible. I’ve never seen the Leif Garrett one, but it’s on my list of 1001 things to do before I die (as is “seek medical attention”)

  • Jeanne says:

Anyone else see the Pop Up Video version of the Leif Garrett episode? (two of my favorite shows ever in one! it was bliss) So enlightening…apparently the friend in the wheelchair said “He’s still high” after he saw Leif. I also had no idea that Nicolette Sheridan used to be really really pretty until I saw that.

  • MM says:

Remember the ads they did with the flow charts of who slept with whom? Stevie slept with Lindsey and Mick, Ann and Nancy were dating the first two guys in Heart and then broke up, and Grace slept with everyone? Genius.

I love how they can shoehorn everyone into the big success-downward spiral-career redemption/inner peace model, even if by inner peace they really mean, agreed to do this show to promote their new album. I can’t wait for the Britney episode.

  • CJ says:

Oh, god! I loved Pop-up Video – when will they bring that back?

  • Inksmudge says:

Awesome! I hope this means they’ll run endless marathons of the older eps…I won’t be able to tear myself away from the tv!

  • Krista says:

My favorite was always REM. The narrator always sounded so shocked that the band stopped touring just for brain surgery.

Also, Bon Jovi. Mainly because there really wasn’t any drama, just ‘Jon and Ritchie didn’t want to talk to each other for awhile.’

  • Wendalette says:

Now BTM and Pop-up make wish for cable again. Pop-up Video is made of awesome and BTW has a place in my heart because it always sounded to me like After-School Specials and “Very Special Episodes,” which ::shame:: I loved at 9 and never really outgrew as a teen or adult.

  • sara says:

I absolutely love the Motley Crue and Oasis BTMs. I believe I read somewhere that the Oasis episode was the first to require subtitles since Liam mumbled so much, and that the producers had to bleep more of that episode than any other. And the Motley Crue episode is just such a delightful soap opera. Ooh, Metallica was also great.

  • Maura says:

Lauren said: “Word on the Poison episode, Drew. CC DeVille: “It was a house of whores…but it became a house of horrors!” I’m hoping for a follow-up to coincide with Bret Michaels’s memoir release (“sex, drugs, rock and roll, and diabetes.”).”

Aahhhh! That comment from C.C. is my favorite BTM line ever. I love the Poison installment. FYI, there is a new one on Bret Michaels. The things you’ll learn about Ricki!

Leif Garrett’s is also beyond awesome. Poor Leif.

I’m so excited (and, like Soylent, apparently in need of medical attention) that BTM is back. Even though I’m watching “Tough Love”, and am only a little bit ashamed of it, VH1 needs to get back to doing what it does best: making crappy, washed-up bands seem more important than they were.
