N Candy AA: Champion of Champions

Submitted by on November 30, 2010 – 8:16 PM12 Comments

Starburst made a better showing than I’d anticipated, but the overall candy champ, my friends, is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Congratulations to the PB pucks; it’s a damn fine candy.

Two candies enter. ONE CANDY LEAVES.

There was never a question in my mind. Two great tastes that taste great together FTW!

  • Lianne says:

I don’t doubt that Reeses will win, and I do like them well enough, but… there are too many chocoholics out there anyway. :> I have to vote for the non-chocolate entry.

  • MizShrew says:

Aw, drat. A chocolate allergy knocks out Reese’s for me (I love Reese’s Pieces though, cute litte non-chocolate bites), and I just recently discovered that Starburst contain gelatin. As a vegetarian that doesn’t work for me either. So I have to abstain from this one.

  • Go Amie says:

Chocolate gives me migraines, so Starburst it is! There’s this candy shop in Berkeley, though, that makes really amazing white chocolate peanut butter cups. They’re better than Reese’s PBC (which I used to be able to eat). They might be my favorite thing to eat. Ever.

  • Kristina says:

You know, I never liked Reese’s, but ever since my roommate started making her chocolate cupcakes with pb frosting, they’re even more disgusting to me than they ever were before. Starburst ftw!

  • MizShrew says:

Go Amie: For a little while Reese’s did a white chocolate PBC, and the miniature ones were awesome. (I can eat white chocolate but not milk or dark.) Anyway, I think the minis had a better PB-to-confection ratio than the standard size, or something. The big ones were overwhelmingly sweet. That said, I am certain the candy shop’s version is far, far superior. Yum!

  • Go Amie says:

MizShrew: I’ve had the Reese’s white chocolate version, and I’m not a big fan, sadly. It was tragic because when they came out I was so excited that I bought about four bags of the miniatures, and then I didn’t like them. :( But they’re still available on amazon, so you should treat yourself!

  • Dorine says:

NO – Starbursts contain gelatin?! Aack. I had to give up Junior Mints because of the cursed gelatin, but it never occurred to me to check the Starburst ingredients. Drat.

I guess I’ll be eating as many of them as I can while I’m pregnant, since I’ve had to rescind my vegetarianism temporarily due to the oddities of pregnancy tolerances.

  • AbraCat says:

Reese’s Cups for the win, and I feel so strongly about it that I’m gonna go get me some right now.

  • JennyB says:

Oh Starburst, you poor deluded little candy…

  • StephMac says:

Hmm. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing, but I don’t consider peanut butter cups “candy”. Candy = glorious sugar boiled down into various confections. Chocolate = glorious milk and cocoa butter, etc. Not the same thing, people!

Meh. Voted for the cups anyway.
