I love that Lido is included even though those bastards at PF discontinued them. No, they are NOT the same thing as Milanos, just rounder. Their cookie-ness is sublime.

Ooh, what about dark chocolate milanos? Can we include those?

Shoot. I was just so happy to see so many chocolate or chocolate-related entries, and so bummed to see mint rear its ugly head yet again. Mint anything is like that kid your mom ALWAYS made you invite to your birthday parties, in spite of the fact that he ate paste and wet his pants.

@Kiernan: If you can post a TinyURLed link to a Capri, I can address that. We're happy to include "dead" brands -- Stella d'Oro is about to go out of business but you'd better believe I kept the Breakfast Treats in there -- but I think the Capri is actually just called something else now. Was that the scalloped one, about the size of a silver dollar?

I like PF shortbread; that isn't really the point. The point is that the store brands have a universality -- of course you can always point to an exception (I'd never heard of Mint Brussels either before Keck added them), but hundreds, if not thousands, of you can comment, for good or ill, on red-bag Chips Ahoy. You know who else can comment on my mother's butterscotch-chip oatmeal cookies with the just-burnt-enough bottoms? Mr. S. Mr. S is an eloquent fellow, but overall, that isn't fun, plus which I don't want to be pitting people's moms/dads/family recipes against each other.

We understand what y'all are saying about the home/Italian bakery category -- we really do. We had this discussion and couldn't really decide what to do, short of making a...whatever the other tourney is in college hoops that isn't the NCAA, parking all the homemades/rando Brooklyn-bakery cookie-platter shit you can't really buy at the store in that, and running two brackets. The issue there is that, as much as we love these snackets, this phase is already a significant pain in the dupa logistically.

So! If any of y'all wants to take a look at the brackets from last time, noodle around on that site a little bit, and give us some suggestions, we are happy to hear them. It may actually be easier, and more fulfilling (read: "fattening," hee), for everyone involved if we do more than one bracket this time, have some bye rounds, etc.

I have no expectations here. I already had my heart broken over the NCerealAAs. Besides, one of my all-time favs is no longer made, so phooey!

Yeah, some of my faves, Mystic Mints, are no longer around either. These were basically mint creme-filled Oreos, enrobed in dark chocolate. So good.

Oh, I loved Keebler Fudge Cremes. In college, I would buy a package or two to see me through finals week. Besides the delicious fudgy goodness, the beauty of the swirly pattern on the cookies was delightful as I let them slowly sink into the milk in my cup.
