Strange field here in the fourth round — you have to think chocolate-covered grahams and the Keebs will cancel each other out.

My heart wants Biscoff to crush the crumby competition, but my head says the Farm will harvest this victory. I don’t hate Milanos in the least, but it just seems that in the last ten or so years the Pepperidge Farm cookies went from being the cha-ching brand to score at department teas to being EVERYWHERE. —Stephanie V.W. Shortbread for President!
What is a Department Tea? Is that like when you have an afternoon break at work and everyone in your department drinks tea? That sounds charming.
If it were Mint Milanos or Orange Milanos, I’d be all over it. As it is, Walker’s gets my vote. (I recently flew up to Toronto on Porter airlines, which is so tiny it gives everyone VIP access to its lounge, and it had limitless free packages of Walker’s shortbread. Soooo good.)
@Kerry — that’s exactly what it is. Tea, cookies, coffee, etc. Games are sometimes brought out, too. Everyone chats. It’s prevalent in the academic community, mostly seen in math circles but also in physics. Other academic depts might have tea as well, but not on such a regular daily basis.
My husband introduced them to me when he was a math grad student at Harvard which is where they served the “Distinctive” collections from Pepperidge Farm. (Because: Harvard.) Sometimes if I couldn’t make it, he’d bring stacks of PF cookies home to me. However, he also remembers the Fig Newtons being closely guarded at his undergrad math teas.
Friday was wine and cheese night in the Harvard math dept and I’d definitely rush home from my editorial job for that. They grad students at Stanford don’t have wine and cheese but they do have a beer night that they call “Fluid Dynamics.”
Academic life is pretty happening!
Sigh. I am forever doomed to vote for lovable losers, I guess. I’ve never understood the Milano love, which puzzles me. In theory, I like everything about Milanos–the dark chocolate, the shape, the texture, the buttery cookie part of the whole sandwich, but something about the way the whole thing comes together doesn’t work for me.

I’m going with Walker’s, myself. Department teas makes me sad that I didn’t nominate Florentine / Lacey cookies. I used to work in the Admissions office and we would knock each other over for those during “welcome” events. Good times.
But, but … I like ALL of the choices! This is toooo haaaaarrrrd agh.
My deluxe grahams are in last?
When I was in grad school, department teas had really good freshly baked cookies (oatmeal, various chocolate chip permutations, and the like) catered by the University’s food service. Go New School for Social Research, apparently.
This is the first round where I’d happily snack on any of the entrants. Though I dig original Milanos, my vote goes to the buttery goodness that is Walker’s.
I must have missed when the Mint Milano went down because I was hoping to see them in the final. Of all the Milani I feel they had the best shot (mint to appeal to the Thin Mint crow, Milano pedigree, fancy paper packaging, etc.) Oh man I need to buy some, freeze ’em and get down to business tonight.
And as much as Oreos are a staple in my home, I have to vote for the cookie that I actually get excited about. Oh Samoas, so many good flavors in one cookie.
