  • Driver B says:

these folks here here? cannot be stopped.

if the TN can make this happen in the midst of The Stock-alypse, imagine how good we could all make this country feel on 11/4. Get it done, Nation. Let’s turn this thing around.

  • Brigid says:

Too amazing!! I had to donate again too…teachers helping kids appreciate growing things they can eat was too much awesome to bear!

Ms. Tomato Goes to Washington, here we come!!!

  • Hollie Davis says:

Sorry we missed you – we’d have put you up, if you don’t mind cats. :)

  • Cij says:

Webster’s Dictionary called to say they were changing the definition of “Awesome” to “Tomato Nation.”

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Hollie: Oh, I mind cats. But you don’t have MY cats, so we’re good. Heh.

@Linda: Skyrockets and I just did a whole shtick on the phone about how awesome it would be if the town were named for Billy Zane, and there were a Billy Zane Museum, a Billy Zanetarium, McZane-ald’s, etc.

Everyone else: I’ll post a more cogent update tomorrow re: further projects, my date with DC destiny, etc., but I hydroplaned here from the WV border and I really have got to go to sleep.

For now, know that I really could not be prouder of all of you, of what you’ve done and of having you here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I must complain to the night manager about all the pollen in my room.

  • Bo says:

Why did I even doubt? You folk are amazing. It’s almost the Tomato Nation challenge, the other blogs are just little satellites around the Jupiter that is TN!

  • Sharon says:

Wow. So awesome! Way to go everyone!

  • Kim says:

Two things. One–I said it last year and it might well be even more fruitful (bwah!) now: new Cabinet post, Secretary OF AWESOME. Get on that, Mr. Obama; we’ve got your gal right here.

Two–Sars, fellow Tomatoes, all you people I have never met: it is an honor to be among you. Words do not suffice.

  • Omar G. says:

Hells YES. Take a bow, Sars, and also The Internet and Its Awesome Peeps.

Hooooly… I was going to make another donation this afternoon, but got hustled out the door by my husband. I didn’t imagine I’d come home to this. I … wow. Excuse me, got something in my eye.

  • Academic says:

You know, it looks like there are some projects STILL match-eligble. Just saying…. Don’t you want to help a New Orleans school chroncile their post-Katrina recovery? http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=160943&challengeid=18975&zone=0

  • rhiannon says:

Yup, I definitely teared up too as soon as I saw that. Unbelievable!

  • Maria says:

I love the smell of AWESOME in the morning! I’m so proud to be part of this. Thanks, Sars, for making it happen.

  • Hollie says:

I got a flat in Zanesville one night. Tow truck driver ripped my bumper off while unloading the car. (Sarah, if you have car trouble – don’t let a guy named Hod near your car!) I got stranded for three hours in a McDonald’s that had a sign on the wall announcing it had been voted “Best Decor 1987.” That would have been bad enough in 1990, but this was 2003….

  • Princesslola says:

Wow! This is what people can do. Dang allergies, excuse me while I get a tissue.

  • Katherine says:

I live in DC, so I am really looking forward to the Tomato nation invasion.

    Sniff.

Stupid cat, shedding directly into my eyes. SNIFF.

Tomatoes, with a side of AWESOMESAUCE.

  • La BellaDonna says:

Y’all, I am proud to be a Tomato Nationalist. “Education for everyone! There’s Roomba in our hearts for all!”

I am seriously proud. In Philly right now, there are a bunch of drunks going on about “We won! We won!” Dudes, you didn’t do anything. You got drunk while the team won. But here? We did do it. Everyday, ordinary men and women (well, as ordinary as a Tomato Nationalist can get), a lot of whom don’t have all that much money themselves, looking after people who have even less.

I admire you, I salute you, and I’m proud to stand among you – happier, poorer, and covered in cat hair.

Sars, thank you for making it possible for us to be our better selves.
