I am in love with this video, had me laughing the entire time.

  • LynzM says:

I think that “Messes with your depth of field” was my favorite. :)

    So fun!

  • Bronte says:

    Nice Pins!

  • Tylia says:

Hee! “Remembers childhood skeeball triumphs!” I suddenly got very excited that I was gonna watch a giant tomato play skeeball. Maybe next time, eh?

  • Clairezilla says:

Aw! So nice. (Is it okay that I almost cried?) Just a little dusty in my office, is all.

  • Emerson says:

It’s the American Red Balloon! A classic for our times.

  • Carrie Ann says:

Wow, that total still floors me.

I love your jaunty Tomato walk!

  • cayenne says:

Heh. As you were walking down the hall, I was thinking “has seizure induced by hotel carpet pattern”, so I greatly appreciated the casino carpet comment. But where was the hat?

Another great work of American cinema, Mr. S.!

  • Christy says:

Kicking the heels at the end got me. Awww!

    Also, I love your glasses!

  • Cora says:

    Who did the music?

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

It’s from the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I hope they’ll forgive us.

  • Bria says:

If I had to guess, I think Jon Brion would dig the video and the incredible mood his piece brings to it. Seriously, that was beyond lovely. Also, if you ever have a chance to see Brion perform, do. He’s rather nuts, but puts on a truly incredible show.

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

Tee hee hee! Adorable, especially the coffee cup! “Yeah, I’m a giant tomato, I needed caffeine. What of it?”

  • JennyB says:

I kept looking at the people around you thinking any minute now someone is going to do a double take at the tomato walking by. But no! Not a one! Maybe, never having been to AC, I underestimated their familiarity with the….tomato-costumed??

In other news, your hair looks fab, Sars!

  • AbraCat says:

Am I the only one who got excited and thought there was another person in the hotel’s lobby dressed as a tomato? Just me then, huh?

  • CherylS says:

The Awesome Tomato Nation helped my classroom get an iMac last year in this challenge, and it’s being used every single day by “underprivileged” kids who are excited about learning. I put that in quotes because, honestly, they are lucky to have such wonderful supporters. Thanks, Sarah and readers, for all you do for kids.

  • Toni says:

My favorite part was when you somehow compressed the tomato so that you wouldn’t bump into the lady you’re walking by.

    I have a question, though…

Did you round up the total to $314,158? Did some math nerd donate just enough at the very end to get us there? Did it get there by a random stroke of luck?

(For those that are confused, Pi is 3.14159, which is close enough that it caught my attention. I am a math nerd.)

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Toni: The costume is pretty handy like that. By pulling in at the armholes, I can make it narrow enough to walk among civilians.

I believe I took the total from a post on the last day of the contest last year. The giving page has remained open and I think is probably at around 400K now. Sheer coincidence.

  • Heqit says:

Wow, you look just like a tomato-y Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish Called Wanda. Like, REALLY. Were you going for that with the haircut & glasse? Can we call you Wanda?
