Save The Day: April 29

Submitted by on April 29, 2011 – 7:08 AM14 Comments

7 AM update

Yes, you read that right; yes, I got up to watch the royal wedding. Back in the day, my grandmother called my parents and told them to get me out of bed for Charles and Di, and Grandma and I watched part of it together on the phone. The amount of attention the event has gotten worldwide is, as we probably all agree, absurd — but I like them both, and a bride and groom whispering conspiratorially to one another at the altar is one of life’s sweetest sights. Good luck, kids, and don’t lock your knees.

Back to business! $142,585 with about 40 hours to go. Big finish, Legion of Awesome!

Today’s mini-prizing comes from Amy S. — read on!

  • Ellen says:

Thank you to Tomato Nation, Sarah, Charmaine and all the prize givers, but especially to the DONORS for making so many great things happen in classrooms due to this campaign!! I went from $366 down to $40 on my HP project thanks to all of you! I feel like the wish for funding will become reality now. Thank you all. Remember, WE ARE A PART OF TOMATO NATION!

  • Mandi says:

I hope it’s not improper to make a request like this. I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for this project (; Waterloo, Iowa), but can’t afford to finish it off myself. The kids are concerned about the water supply! They came to their teacher with the science project idea! How amazing is that? Plus this is the region where both my parents grew up…sigh. Any chance some environmental science fans out there could help this teacher’s students study their local river before the school year is out? Many, many thanks.

  • Mandi says:

Yikes. Of course I butchered the html tags. This is the link to that project:
    http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=534867&challengeid=136864

The title is “River Blues, Water Quality.” Time to go practice tags…

  • Allison says:

TOMATO NATION — you have all been AMAZINGLY AWESOME! I can’t thank you enough for your support of teachers, classrooms, students and education. As a teacher whose school is facing drastic budget cuts and increased class sizes, I am currently trying DESPERATELY to raise over $7,000 for my project. I know that’s a lot of money, but please, go and read my project proposal and hopefully you’ll see that there is a PURPOSE to everything I request, and maybe you’ll know someone who can help my students and I reach our ambitious goal! :-)

    Now. . . .

    What?!?! MORE prizes???

    Yes. :-)

Just a reminder, anyone who donates to this project — http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=540906&challengeid=155170 — has the chance to win at least 1 of the following:

*A ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR GIFT CARD to Donors Choose!!! To win, you need to bring the most donors to the project link above. In order to qualify, your donors need to say “I donated because asked me to support Mrs. K’s students.”

*$50 GIFT CARD to Amazon or Donors Choose. For this one, all you have to do is donate!

*$25 GIFT CARD to Amazon or Donors Choose. Just donate!

Spread the word and have fun!!!

…Prince William and his bride Kate did ask their well-wishers to donate to charity in lieu of wedding gifts, after all.

    Thank you!
