Short-Term Drive

Submitted by on October 2, 2008 – 11:16 PM26 Comments

So, for starters: as of this writing, 22K+.   It’s my lucky number, 22, so I hope we can make some luck for the following projects that are set to expire in the next couple of days: Fun With Fractions and Digital Photography Club.

Can you donate to either of these projects in the next few days?   If you do, you could win one of three (3) $25 Amazon gift certificates. Please consider peeling off a tenski for fractions or photos; it might let you buy some books for yourself!

Your awesomeness never ceases to amaze and delight.

(A reminder: the contest FAQ is at the top right of the homepage.   Questions?   Read the FAQ, or email me.)

…23 is a nice number also.

    (eeee!)

  • Bo says:

You told me to watch baseball, which I did. I watched MY Phillies beat the big (very big), bad (pretty bad, tonight), CC Sabathia. Then while rewatching (thank you beloved TiVo) I made my way to DC to help you make your way to DC.

Can I join you on the tomato train (in Philly) to DC? I’d love to see the city through the eyes of a fruit related to strawberries that goes the incognito route as a veggie. And I think the photos would be cool.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Should there be (knock wood) a tomato train, eeeeeeeveryone is welcome.

  • princesslola says:

    Exxxxxxceeeeeellllllllleeeeeennnnnttttt!

  • KPP says:

If we click on the links from this page and donate, are we donating under the TN drive automatically or do we need to go to the TN blogger page and select the projects from there?

    Also: Go TNers, go!

  • Sandman says:

Are we/you still looking for projects that are close to expiring? I just now found the “sort by fewest days left” feature on the DC site. Some of those projects (with one day left, ack!) look pretty amazing.

  • Molly says:

We passed $25k. Guys, seriously, HOW do you do it? How do we do it?

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Sandman: Sorry, I should have clarified — I went to know about projects *within the TN Challenge* that are close to expiring.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@KPP: Those links should be automatic to the TN Challenge. If your browser has the number 18975 in it, that’s ours and you should be good to go.

  • Sandman says:

Oh, poop: I got so excited about finding projects close to expiring I forgot to go through the TN link. Sorry about that, Chief.

  • RJ says:

The Tomato Nation is clearly a force to be reckoned with!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Fun With Fractions is now complete! Two days to expiration for Digital Photography with about $600 left to go. Excellent work, friends.

  • Randy's Girl says:

Only $72.00 left to fund Author Visit in Texas – anyone? Swimming in a shiny sea of AWESOME!

  • KPP says:

I just reviewed the prize list…is someone really donating a roomba?! As if it weren’t already the best donation drive ever!!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Yes, “someone” is. A reader bought me mine; it’s time I returned the karmic favor.

  • Krissa says:

    Author Visit: FUNDED.

  • Dawnathan says:

    Digital Photography: FUNDED

  • autiger23 says:

Check that out- Digital Photography is now funded. Nice job, you guys!

  • The Bloody Munchkin says:

I donated to the Digital Photography project and then I stopped back in to see its progress, and as Dawnathon and autiger23 have correctly pointed out, it was funded. I got a little vaklempt you guys. Love this challenge!!!

  • JeniMull says:

Wow – digital photography already funded?! That is so fantastic! Way to go – I was getting ready to head back and toss some more funds their way.

  • Georgia says:

Is the “Fear Can Hold You A Prisoner – Hope Can Set You Free!” project actually expired, or is that a glitch on the DC site? I hope it’s a glitch so we can fund it!

  • Terry says:

    @Sandman
I did that too. Sorted by ‘fewest days left’. I ended up fully funding a project ’cause I couldn’t bear to see it expire. So what if it wasn’t part of a contest?
And there’s so many more I had to stop looking or I’d donate the morgage.

  • Jaime says:

I can’t believe we’re almost at $30K and it hasn’t even been three days. The Tomato Nation is the awesomest nation on earth!

  • Christina says:

Stop Bullying and Violence: An Inner City Peace Initiative — FUNDED

I actually cried at my desk when I read this one.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Well done, team — well done. Keep forwarding those receipts; I’ll contact winners shortly.

Let me check on that Shawshank project and get back to you.

  • Sandman says:

@Terry: Good on ya for your full-bore awesomeness. Now that I’ve started donating this way, I keep seeing projects I’d like to see funded, too.
