Today’s mini-prize: two (2) tickets to a minor-league baseball game, your choice of team. Forward your receipts to bunting at tomatonation dot com to enter.

20K in 31 days; the faster we finish, the more money we raise for bees, and the less guilty I will feel about telling people to eat said bees.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

We’re on the board! Half a percent done already. Heh.

  • I am up late feeding a newborn, so I was able to donate right away (I got to use my b-day GC, too). Hmmm…can we do all $10k before my birthday (on the 2nd)? I am once again going to bet on the TN…

  • Rebecca U says:

Whee! 7% already and it’s not even 10pm on the West Coast!

  • RJ says:

Wheeeee, had to get my donation in before the rest of the East coast wakes up and closes out the challenge. Yay, books!

  • Kriesa says:

I’m lucky enough to have an October birthday, too. I used my gift card for the Great Gatsby / Jazz Age Donors Choose project. That sounds like an awesome class. I wish I could sit in!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

    $1,507!

  • Leigh in CO says:

Well, shoot! I left the giving card I just got at home, but if I know TN, the Fall Classic will be long over before my work day ends. I guess I’ll just have to give twice!

  • Bess says:

I have been saving my monthly donation credits since May just for this, and I’m stupidly excited to finally get to spend them!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

    $2,307!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

    …My mistake: $2,497. (eee!)

  • Elizabeth says:

They sent me a birthday code — well, my birthday’s not til the 6th, but clearly we’ll be done long before then.

Also, why is “eat a bee” not a tag?

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

Woo hoo! Ray Bradbury gets to inspire some kids with my DC gift card!

  • Marissa says:

    Sarah,

Thank you for organizing this project. It breaks my heart to know that there maybe students out there who will never learn to know the joy of a good book because school systems can’t find the money to have a decent library or provide teachers with the funding for classroom books.

It is a joy every year to participate in helping teachers through Donors Choose!

  • Allison says:

It’s the most wonderful tiiiiime of the year…happy DCtober, everybody!

  • Liz S. says:

I’ve been anxiously watching the clock all day at work. Now I finally get to rush home and snag my DC birthday gift card! Watch out my fellow commuters, something wicked this way comes, and I will not stop until I get home and plug in some happy numbers for a few new Bradbury fans.

October is the best. Too bad the Nation will likely clear this thing over the weekend, and I won’t have any Choose-y time sucks waiting for me at work on Monday.

  • Suzanne M says:

I was just able to donate for the first time. That was pretty exciting, y’all.

  • Go Amie says:

    @Suzanne M – Awesome sauce!

  • Tal says:

Good grief, it’s the 5th already! Where have I been? The good news is that I got an email encouraging me to donate in honor of DC’s 10th anniversary, so the money has been flowing out of my account all afternoon.
