TN Fall Contest: $ Is Awesome

Submitted by on October 15, 2007 – 9:29 PM9 Comments

And by “$” I mean our mystery donor, who, when we passed 80K last night, threw in $2,500. $ will throw in another $2,500 if/when we get to 90K, so let’s get to spending. Currently, we’re at 82.5%, which is something else. Something…awesome.

And speaking of awesome, I see a number of awesome projects that only need a small boost or two to get completed. To give you one example, the youngsters of West Columbia, SC do not currently experience the joys of Frisbee golf, and should, posthaste.

All sorts of other projects remain — Lassie books, career boosts, resources for French class (“and to drink…Peru!”), cooking, recycling, you name it and The TNC: Awesome has got it.

    Nice “Better Off Dead” reference!

Oh, maaaan. Am I the ONLY person who believes 6th grade martians should be literate?

Seriously though, how awesome is it to kickstart a whole class of future sci-fi fans? If I could have funded the whole thing, I totally would have…

I had to donate for pythagorean theorem, I still remember it from 8th grade. Plus it made me donor number 999 for this challenge.

  • Sars says:

    1001 donors! Awesome!

  • Shamela says:

Literate Martians! I am all over it, Amy. :-) With any luck, we’ll be hearing “Take us to your librarian.”

  • Danielle says:

    Hey Sars,
Heard you in Boston on the radio yesterday. Great job! I was cracking up about the Mrs. Uglyface comment.

  • amy says:

Awesome! The Martians are fully funded. I don’t know why that makes me so happy, but it totally does.

    Also? 84%! Of $100,000. Wow!

  • Karen says:

Everytime I think I’m out, you drag me back in!

What are you supposed to do when it’s 82% of 100K, after all? Not chip in one more time?

I’m pleased to see today that the project I funded last night is ready to go–“Persepolis” in Long Island City. How could I not fund that, when I’m the GN librarian here at my university?

  • Alan Swann says:

14+ more days to raise $14,000… c’mon, gang, we can do it!
