“And awesome’s plenty for meeeeeee!” And for you guys, who have hoisted the contest up over 86 percent. Four thousand more, and the lovely and talented $ hucks in another $2,500. Good work, people. Keep it up, and stay tuned for a special tomato-dance announcement.

Woo-Hoo! This is pretty darn awesome! I’m very impressed at the average amount of contribution – $86K+ has been donated by just over 1,000 people. Average donations of more than $50 is better than most fund-raisers can hope to get – maybe we’re just lured in by the creative projects at Donors Choose. I mean, who doesn’t think Dirt is Important?!

I’m really hoping to start a meme with this one: vegetable costumes and philanthropy. Dude in a carrot suit dancing to raise money for March of Dimes, little kids in peapod and chile pepper costumes doing UNICEF for trick-or-treat, a phalanx of broccolis marching in support of human rights — the possibilities are endless, here.

I’m relishing the fact that despite the fact that he announced it on his show last night, we’re still kicking Colbert’s ass.
