This is wonderful. I was intrigued when I saw the callback to it in the comments. I don't know how I missed it the first time around. Happy Thanksgiving, American members of the 'Nation! Also: Hmf. I celebrate Thankgiving in October. Like normal people.

I was just trying to figure out this weekend how I will be able to fit all 12 adults and 2 toddlers in my shoebox dining room on Thursday, calculating the number of card tables to add, and how far into the living room I will be able to go before someone winds up sitting on the couch.

My husband, who comes from a large and very proper family was concerned about the crowdedness, and the appearance, and the mismatching chairs...and I got all het up. "That's what Thanksgiving IS! You knock elbows and straddle table legs...etc. etc." Now I know where to send him so he knows that it's not just me and my crazy family. Happy Thanksgiving!

Chalk me up as another one who has to read this every year--several times throughout the holiday season. Six years on (wow) and it's still my favorite Thanksgiving blog post.
