Is there any way that you can ask your readers if there’s a good “all-in-one” baby registry out there on the interwebs?   I’m looking for one sitethat searches a bunch of different stores for one particular item.   I’ve been totwo that seem okay, but I have to search by store instead of by item, which is areal bitch (I’m sure you can imagine).

Thanks!

Infant Ahoy

Dear Ahoy,
I assume you mean something like Wedding Channel has, where it centralizes the registries?   Either way, I’m sure the readers will have a recommendation, even if it’s “just use Babies R Us for everything.”

Dammit! I wish I’d known about this before I registered at BRU and Amazon, but there’s a site called MyRegistry.com that allows you to search by item. It’ll give you a list of stores that carry it, and you can choose the one that has the best price.

  • Wehaf says:

Amazon.com – any item sold by any amazon seller will be listed. Their list of sellers for baby products is here: http://tinyurl.com/ce7j97

  • Yvonne says:

As an alternative, you could do your item/price searching via Google or one of the price-checking web sites and then add it to a “Universal Wishlist” on Amazon. You go to your Amazon wish list, drag a button to your bookmarks bar, and it lets you add any item from any store to your wish list. It might also work with an Amazon registry too, but I’ve never tried it.

thenest.com has one. It’s the sister site to the wedding site theknot.com. I haven’t used it, but it might be worth exploring.

  • Denise says:

Hintbug.com is the universal registry of choice for our family. You can add items from any website.

  • Robin says:

I’m not really sure if this is what you are looking for but I use a website called FindGift.com. You can add a bookmark that allows you to add registry items from any website. Besides setting up a registry, you can also use the site to get gift suggestions.

Seconding the recommendation for MyRegistry.com. My sister is using it for her baby registry, and it’s pretty handy.

I know that when we were doing our wedding registry, it would look for items in various places. It is also possible to add items that you find on your own (i.e. Etsy things) via a button you can put on your toolbar.

  • Miranda says:

    http://www.kaboodle.com

You can add any and everything to this website and it gives you a shortcut toolbar at the top of your browser for easy additions.

Infant Ahoy, what specific item are you looking for?

Nothing can hide from these readers. I’d bet you a dollar that these fine men & women can find it in 5 posts or less!

  • I use mygiftlist.com for my Christmas/birthday lists… allows me to provide links to books at a local independent seller instead of amazon, for example. It sounds like more people use myregistry.com, and all mygiftlist is is sort of a way to save a database of links, but I have found it convenient.

  • Rev Run says:

I think it’s best to stick with bricks and mortars, if not one retailer, because you will get lots of crap you don’t need and will want to return. Target, babies r us, and buy buy baby (horrible name good merch). Even better cash in your upteemth onesy for store credit that you can use when baby is 12 months and the river of gifts stops flowing
