Hey Sars,

I’m wondering if you or your readers have any good remedies for an itchy, flaky scalp. I’ve tried Head and Shoulders and Garnier anti-dandruff shampoo/conditioner, as well as Neutrogena T-Gel (both the regular bottle and the more concentrated version) but they don’t help. I’d go to a dermatologist, but I’m in a foreign country for the next couple of months and don’t want to deal with medical anything while I’m here, if I can avoid it. But it is a foreign country with well-stocked drugstores and Lush, so I can find any recommended products. Thanks!

I Want to Wear Black Sweaters Again

Dear Black,

I don’t suffer from dandruff (as far as I know…heh), so I’ll leave this one to the readers.

Readers: We’re looking for products only.Email subject line: “scalp remedy.”

Dear Sars,

I have a free cell phone through my work.We have had Cingular for a long time, and I have a phone (made by Motorola) that I have grown to like.It works for me; I know my way around it; when I open it there’s a picture of my pooch, blah blah blah personalized-cakes.Anyhoo, my boss has decided to switch to Sprint PCS.I’ve looked on the website and haven’t found a phone that really lights my fire.

I’m hoping you have some Sprint loyalists among your readers who would be willing to tell me what phone they have and why they love it.My biggest uses are text messaging and pictures, with customizable ringtones close behind.

Thanks,
No longer Cingular orange, and it’s a shame, because yellow and black just isn’t as flattering

Dear Cing,

I will tell you what phone not to get, if they offer it: the Samsung t209.It’s cute, it comes in red, decent graphics, but it just doesn’t ring loud enough.

But I have T-Mobile, so let’s let the Sprint customers take over.Readers, we need phones that are good for the uses she’s mentioned above.Email subject line: “Sprint phones.”

Hi Sars,

I have a shopping question that could be posted in the
“Ask the Readers” section. After years of sleeping au
naturel, I now prefer to wear a nightgown (various
reasons, including being chilly and late-onset
modesty).

I have a couple nightgowns that are essentially large
t-shirts but I’m sure my husband would appreciate a
little more flash.I would still like to be
comfortable, and here’s my problem.Every store or web
site I check out seems to feature women’s sleepwear in
one of three categories: a) sexpot, b) kindergardener,
or c) grandma.Seriously, do women enjoy sleeping in
a nightgown that features baby blue bunnies?Or one
that goes from neck to floor and makes you feel like a
pioneer?

One concern regarding the style I choose is that I
have a rather large chest so spaghetti straps and a
deep neckline aren’t going to keep the girls in line
when I lie down.I would like to find a nightgown
that has either short sleeves or wide straps, a
neckline that isn’t too low, a length that hits just
above the knee and is in a colour other than something
meant for a nursery.Or the holy grail, whichever is
easier.

I really don’t like to wear pants when I’m sleeping so
while I like the look of men’s-style pajama sets, I’m
not going to sleep in them. And the shirts are never
really long enough to feel comfortable in them sans
pants.

Oh, and I live in Canada, so online stores need to ship
here but I’m okay with paying U.S. prices.I often travel
to Vancouver so I could go check out shops there.

Signed,
Sleep(wear)less in Canada

Dear Sleep,

I haven’t worn a nightie since middle school, because I always woke up at 3 AM with the damn thing up in my pits, but I would suggest checking out American Apparel, as well as Land’s End — Land’s End won’t have the hottest lingerie in the world, but 1) it’s classic-cut stuff, and 2) they have more options for the well-appointed among us.You could also get a spaghetti-strap nightie and wear a shelf-bra tank underneath it; it might seem like more artillery than you need, butwinter is coming and layering is hot right now.

Readers, we need nightgowns — not Frederick’s of Hollywood, not Lanz of Salzburg.Email subject line: “nightie.”
