TN Fall Contest: Tim Minear Joins The Awesome Guild

Submitted by on October 2, 2007 – 8:14 PM30 Comments

Because Tim Minear is, as all of you are, awesome, he’s donated a signed Wonderfalls script to the pile o’ prizes. Thanks to reader Allyson for midwifing that — and, while I’m up, to the many other readers who have fixed me up with prizing, but who I may not have named because I was TOO BUSY REFRESHING THE CHALLENGE PAGE.

Which is at 90%. I couldn’t be prouder if I’d raised you all from babies myself.

Clip ‘n’ save!

1. Awesome: Tim Minear, Claire Danes, and y’all. And Zach! And Pepperidge Farm snickerdoodles!

2. I’m putting together the Tomato Angela Dance Bonus Round right now; if you have project suggestions, please email them (sars at tomatonation dot com) instead of posting them here. If we hit the initial goal in the middle of the night, keep your powder dry; I’ll be up early to launch the next round.

3. “Tell everyone to slow down! I don’t get paid ’til the end of the week!” Don’t worry; you’ll have time. Plenty of money between here and 50K.

Since you’ve probably gotten all the challenge awards *already*; I’ve been looking into these awards. Only Yahoo mentions Tomato Nation by name. The others soon will too, at this rate.

  • Sars says:

    91%, my bad.

  • Cij says:

I keep checking this page at the right time. 2162 students and their cool teachers helped! 91% of the way and then a bit more for the infamous tomato/mscl dance.

Thank you Allyson and Tim (as if I needed any MORE reasons to think you were awesome).

Everyone, you guys are more awesome than Captain Awesome.

  • Sars says:

…92%. I hope Stephanie went home from work already.

  • Sars says:

    And I love Captain Awesome.

  • baggage says:

Yay..Lion King got funded! I’m excited about that one.

  • Allyson says:

    Whoot!

  • Shannon says:

93% WOO! but…ummm….. my math skills might be a little rusty, but I don’t think we have enough in the remaining proposals to actually make it to 100%

  • Melanie says:

Wow. That’s really all I can say. It’s going to be 100% by midnight I bet. I can only imagine what the final tally will be in 29 more days.

  • FloridaErin says:

I cannot tell you how much fun my husband and I have had checking the site for updates on how much money has been raised. Holy freaking crap, people. I told him earlier on my way home from work that it was at 71%. When we got home just now and checked, it was at 92%.

My husband: “Wait, that’s from when you checked earlier today?!”

    Heeeee! Awesome!!

Podcasts for ESL learners looks like it rocks.

  • Sars says:

@Shannon: Weird, you’re right. I’ll add one more teeny one just so everything’s above board.

  • Jacks says:

    You are almost there!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am a public school teacher and I just wanted to say wanted to give you a huge “THANK YOU” because this site and the generous donors really help make the educational experience a better one for our children!

  • Anji says:

    Whee! 94%!

  • Donna says:

It’s going to be hard to sleep tonight -I’ll want to keep checking to see if it’s at 100%!!

  • Cij says:

    95%!!!!!

Clearly, I am not controlling the refresh key- the refresh key is controlling me. Must. exercise. restraint.

    Goodnight all Captain Awesomes!

  • Katherine says:

Just funded some enyclopedias. You all rock!!!

  • alivicwil says:

    :)

Sars – I tried to email you a couple of projects, but I got a delivery error… Not sure if it’s your end or mine.

  • Debbie says:

woot! just donated to the tricycles :) 95%!!

  • Stephanie K says:

    23 minutes later … 95%! Woooofreakinhoo!

  • Suzannne says:

Kids on trikes. Physical activity for little ones. For all that Tomato Nation has given me, I can give pedalling to small people. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Debbie says:

Wooohoo! Just donated to the tricycles . . .it was 95% after I did that . . .and now it’s 96%!

  • Alan Swann says:

96%, and more than 500 donors! W00t! When we surpass 100%, will the little thermometer burst its top, like in the cartoons?

  • Leila says:

    97%! With 510 donors!

  • Jessica says:

At this point, we just need 87 people and one half-person to come up with an extra $10.

[Insert joke about how it’s harder for half-people to contribute since they can only work part-time.]

  • Scarlett says:

At midnight, 97%, or $34195 raised. That’s an average hourly rate of $712.40.

  • Someone may have touched on this already – but is there any way to donate from outside of the US if you’re not a US cit? I’m in Australia and I tried and they told me no . . .

  • Sars says:

Check the comments in previous contest posts, which tell you how to get around that in the credit-card fields — or check the main contest page (top right on the homepage), which has instructions for overseas donors. Or just email me, it’s faster.

  • alivicwil says:

    Tallulah – I’m in NSW

fill it in like normal, but where is asks for your state, select New York. I put a 0 in front of my postcode to make it 5 digits.

    :D

  • kathy says:

    98%. This is crazy-beautiful, Sars.
