Tomato Nation Read-Along #6: Consider the Lobster
Updated 29 November: Just a reminder that it’s Lobster time Wednesday, December 1. If you bought the book but haven’t started it yet, or feel discouraged about finishing, you should still join the live-chat discush on Wednesday night, because 1) it’s a book of essays, so you can read at least a little and not feel lost, and 2) we only stayed on topic for like ten minutes last time anyway. Just make a nice shiny Jean Auel reference and we’ll be off to the races. Hee.

Thanksgiving is coming up, which is a pretty hectic time, but on the other hand, many of you will have plane trips to while away, so let’s shoot for Wednesday 1 December. Easy to remember, and we’ll have a live chat that night as well.

I was browsing through the reviews on Amazon and one of the reviewers says that the Kindle book does not contain one of the essays called “Host”.

(I really like Broom of the System but could not get through Infinite Jest so I am indecisive about this).

I’m hoping to read it over Thanksgiving break. I will also be reading Requiem for a Nun, Paradise Lost, The Satyricon, Memorias de una vaca, and something out of my own collection. I look forward to seeing how all of this affects my brain come chat time.

God, how did we get on to Auel last time? Was that my fault? It was probably my fault, I seem to have some kind of pathological NEED to talk through my Earth’s Children adolescent trauma with strangers…
