This just in (or, rather, out): Master Stupidhead

bunny3

Above: David Gardner Bunting III, born 13 June 2009, 7:45 PM, eight pounds, five ounces; and his favorite aunt.   Everyone is healthy and in fine fettle, and the littlest Bunting is already submitting amiably to the photo-bunny-ear-ing of his loving but tacky relatives.

Below: three Daves, no waiting.   Clockwise from left, “Papa”; Mr. S; and Master S.   Not shown: my sister-in-law Gen, receiving her medal from the War Department.

Edited to add: “Papa” found the original version of this photo, sans bunny ears.   It’s below, and in my parents’ defense, that wallpaper was there when they moved into the house.   Hee.

  • Debby says:

    Awww…….congrats to all of you!

  • Jean says:

Heh, at first I thought that was a baby pic of Mr. S and your mom and I thought, “Wow, Sars really looks like her mom,” followed by, “Wow, Sars’ mom was hot.” I had to read a couple of times to figure out what was really going on, and to notice the bunny ears (hee!). I have not had coffee yet.

    Congratulations, Auntie Sars!

  • Kate Smith says:

Congratulations, Buntings! Lots of cuteness going on there.

  • Anne-Cara says:

Aw! Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. S! The Littlest S is adorable.

  • Cora says:

WAY TO GO Mrs. Stupidhead!!! From a fellow mom — and hell yes, War Medal!

  • Veronica B. says:

Yes, congratulations! Trust me, being the Spinster Aunt is all kinds of fun. Also? Many opportunities to torture Mr. S by purchasing the loudest, most annoying toys you can find for the little Master.

  • Ash says:

Thanks for sharing Sars and congratulations to your family. The elder Buntings look so happy and proud, whilst the littlest one looks so peaceful. Loving but tacky clearly works.

  • Margaret in CO says:

    Below: three Daves.
    That’s extra-cool.

Congratulations to the Buntings, and WELCOME TO THE WORLD Baby David!

  • Margaret in CO says:

OMG, I totally missed my chance to say-

    BABY BUNTING!!!!! (Hee.)

  • Emerson says:

All hail His Lordship! Health and happiness to the new family. Do you realize you can now select greeting cards “From Aunt”? The more categories, the better, I say.

  • Annie says:

    Congratulations!

Putting bunny ears on younger relatives is a time-honored tradition. You wouldn’t want the baby to feel left out.

  • F. McGee says:

Congratulations from someone who was brought up in a loving but tacky family and couldn’t be happier about it. Have fun being an aunt, Sars!

  • MCB says:

Aww, congrats!! Following Veronica B., may Master S. grow up hale and hearty, and receive many loud and annoying toys from his favorite aunt :-)

  • Christy says:

Oh, I almost was the first to go:
    BABY BUNTING!
Squeee! Congrats to all the Buntings!

  • attica says:

Kudos to Gen and congratulations to the rest of the Bunting battallion!

Your dad looks like he might pop with happiness. Aww!

  • grandefille says:

    Yahoo! Massive snugglings ahoy!

Soon he will be four and trying to play soccer. And Auntie Sars will be in the stands, screaming encouragement.

Congratulations to all. And hee to the Dave Cubed photo.

  • Liz R. says:

    Wow! Congratulations! So tiny!

  • Katie says:

Congratulations to you all! V happy news!

  • Maria says:

CONGRATS to all you Buntings! What a sweet little boy he is! And yes, kudos to Gen for enduring the battle.

Welcome to aunthood, the greatest ‘hood there is. Oh, your hearts must all be bursting, judging by the pics. YAY!

  • Adrienne says:

Yay for babies! Congratulations! In related news, I became an Auntie on Friday too! Well, as close as I’ll get as an only child, but my bestest bestest just had her first.

Also, what was going on nine months ago (blackout? alien invasion?) This is kid number 4 I know of being born this weekend…

  • Melanie says:

Oh, congratulations! Being an aunt is the best!

  • Aw! Congratulations and welcome to the world Baby Bunting!

  • Jeanne says:

Congrats to the Buntings! And welcome to the Wonderful World of Nephews! Where you get to show off baby pictures without the hassle of having your own baby. Being an aunt is awesome in so many ways, enjoy it!

  • tulip says:

Aw! Yay for new Stupidheads! :) Congrats to all the Bunting clan for what I am sure will be a mighty addition.

Is it bad that I got “Bye Baby Bunting” stuck in my head?

  • cayenne says:

Congrats to the Bunting clan – great news & it’s never too early to introduce the baby to bunny ears & other photo hijinks. I expect “moosh-face-against-glass-door” will come soon.

@Adrienne: Labour Day weekend. Last summer weekend at the cottage, on the boat, camping in the piney woods, for spa/golf getaway, whatever – seems to get things going .

  • Tashi says:

Congratulations! As an experienced Auntie of two let me say the best gifts are those that make a tremendous amount of noise. But if drums and horns are not readily available you are going to have the incredible joy of introducing your nephew to all the books that you loved as a kid and finding out that a whole slew of excellent new books for children have been written since we were kids. One name: Mo Williams.

  • Sue says:

EEEEEE – Congrats! I am also an Aunt, I also buy the loud toys, and I also hand them back when they have poopypants. It’s the Auntie prerogative!

@Adrienne, in my neck of the woods we had Hurricane Ike come through about nine months ago. We only got the huge winds, but they knocked out power for a week-plus. No power, no TV, lots o’darkness… = baby boom?

  • Laura says:

    Aww, Little Stupidhead! Congratulations!

My “little” brother and his wife are expecting any day now. I am thrilled for them and perfectly happy with my own choices, but younger siblings having babies does make one feel a bit superannuated!

  • Kida says:

Congratulations on becoming the favorite aunt! I wish you as much joy in spoiling Master S as I have my own niece/goddaughter.

  • RJ says:

Congratulations!!!! (I’ve got 7 of those myself, plus 4 great-nieces and a great-nephew. What can I say… my family started early.)

They’re a blast to have around, and unlike me, you’ll actually get to see yours (mine live all over the place).

  • Inksmudge says:

Congrats to all the Buntings! He sure is a cutie!!

  • Abby says:

Awww, the baby is too cute! And Sars, you look AWESOME!

  • Tisha_ says:

Aww! So cute! And, HEE! @ Master Stupidhead. Adorable.

  • Donna says:

    Awww..how cute. Congratulations!!

  • sarawr says:

Awww, congratulations to everyone involved, but especially the Stupidheads. What an adorable addition!

  • Jen S says:

Huzzah! Speaking as a multiple Auntie (God bless my sis, she did it THREE TIMES), you’re in for a world of fun!

And apropos of nothing, I simply adore those little sock hats.

  • ferretrick says:

Speaking of tacky, check this comment out! In that picture, the baby is totally checking out Sars like “lunch.”

BTW, didn’t you once mention going to great lengths to hide your tattoos from Mom? That had to be before your brother got that much ink on his arm.

Congrats to the Bunting family; he’s adorable.

  • Robin says:

Awwww. Baby Bunting (sorry, had to) is absolutely *precious*.

    Congratulations all around!!

  • Jane says:

Congratulations!! The look on your dad’s face says it all. And as you’ve already figured out, being an aunt is a great gig.

Just stock up on the birth control if you don’t want one of your own. My husband and I were childfree until the cousins came along…then unbeknownst to me, my ovaries were stirred to life and decided to make their mark. A great surprise, to be sure, but a shocker! We have two Mikes, no waiting over here.

  • Linda says:

Congratulations to everybody — that is great to hear.

  • rayvyn2k says:

Congrats on the new baby–you’ll be a terrific auntie! And coming from a family that had three Als…get ready for some serious nicknaming…in our family it wound up being Al, Albie and Joe. Hee.

  • Sheila says:

    Congratulations! :D

  • Wendy says:

Congratulations to all! Aunthoodery is awesome. Also awesome are the holidays when you can put photo-op Christmas bows on babyheads and there’s not much they can do about it.

  • Deanna says:

Yahoo! Being an aunt is fantastic.

And having had my own 8lb baby a few weeks ago, medal from the War Dept. indeed. Phew.

  • J says:

    Welcome, baby! Congrats, aunt!

  • Jess says:

    Congratulations! Babies abound!

@Adrienne – I, too, became an aunt, only 3 weeks ago! What the heck was going on 9 months ago? Seriously? So many babies coming so soon!

  • Rachel says:

    Sweet! Another customer!

Congratulations to Mr. Stupidhead, the lovely Gen, and wee tiny Dave III: This Time It’s Personal.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@ferret: I got my first tat nearly 20 years ago; that horse is pretty well clear of the barn by now. As long as Mr. S doesn’t tattoo the baby, I don’t think “Mama” much cares. Hee.

  • Alyson says:

Congratulations to the Buntings! I’m so jealous; I’d love to have a nephew to spoil.

  • Karen says:

    Hurray, baby Stupidhead Bunting!

I’m sure one day he will be touched by all of our heartfelt good wishes and terrible, terrible nicknames.
