Good Night, And Good Luck

It isn’t quite as weighty as I expected; the movie part is actually fairly slight, relying as it does on old footage to fill in the plot. But it’s interesting, it moves well, and the cast is charming — Clooney, Strathairn, and Robert Downey Jr., who I think we always forget is as good at creating a presence on the screen as he is because of all the other things we have to think about with him. It’s a very enjoyable movie; Strathairn pulls one face in particular after an interview that totally paid for the ticket (you’ll know what I mean when you see it). (10/31/05)
