Prizing update
The prizing phase has begun; please make sure your spam filters will accept emails from me, and do get back to me as soon as you can if you get a win notification — we’ve got a LOT of prizes to give away, and you’ll definitely want some of this loot in time for the holidays.
And we won a prize collectively, too, one which I didn’t know about until a couple of days ago: Yahoo! is donating $5000 to the field-trip project of the winner’s choice. Technically, the winner is the blog publisher/owner/whatevs, but I’d love to hear suggestions on which field-trip project should get $5000 of someone else’s money. TinyURL a link in the comments, or email me directly. (Teachers: what better time to build a field-trip project and add it? Hint: I’d like to send kids to a baseball game.)

Would going to Obama’s inauguration count as a field trip? Because it would be amazing to be able to send a busload to kids to see that.
Teachers: Another hint. Minor league game, way more kids can go for $5000. And there are minor league teams in the most out of the way places! (And in the way places, too, of course, Riversharks.) Teaching kids to keep score? Teaching them how to calculate stats? Teaching them how to be sportswriters? All there!
Mollie’s idea just gave me goosebumps, and I’m not even American!

Can you use the money to support multiple field trips?
Can you fund several field trips to add up to $5000 or is this a one-field-trip deal? These 45 kids want to go to the science museum for $625.

If it doesn’t have to be spent on one field trip, you could send that class and the teacher’s classes for the next four years to the science museum!
Mad Scientist Night at a Museum: http://tinyurl.com/6je2j7
And only 6 days left!
This one: is almost expired as well (only 18 more days), and would allow a group of second graders to go watch a butterfly migration.
eek, url here http://tinyurl.com/5ey6re
t’s definitely worth checking to see if that 5Gs can be used for more than one project. There are only nine trips in the proposals (as opposed to cameras to take pictures of the trips, or A/V equipment for afterwards, or books related to a trip or such trip-related items.) $5000 would fund a bunch of them.
I second the Mad Scientist Night at the Museum rec- that sounds awesome!
I would have loved to be able to experience the Mad Scientist Night at the Museum as an elementary student! I totally agree with others who have suggested that project.
I’ve just been informed that I can spread the 5K over more than one project.
As you were. I’ll make a decision in a few days.
Yay! Possible multiple field trips!
Now I can return to hoping that I will win the roomba. Please, Mr. Roomba, come to my house and chase my bunnies. Both the dust bunnies and the real ones.
How about a trip to see a musical about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad? http://tinyurl.com/6pgngd
Or a trip to Yosemite? http://tinyurl.com/6y4g44
These seniors want to go to DC! (Like a TOMATO!) http://tinyurl.com/5wtmjo
Here are middle school tomato-wannabes http://tinyurl.com/6zlqn5
Okay, not a trip but the Toymaker sounds AWESOME http://tinyurl.com/5pxqvc
I think it would be kinda nice if they could go to a farm and see how food grows.
Dead roombas chase no dust bunnies. : (
I am not sure how to post this on here, forgive me if I am going about this incorrectly. I was given a donation by one of your memebers and I am trying to get the rest of my project funded. Anybody who would like to make a donation to education or who works for a company that may, please go to:

and consider helping my classroom. My students created this project with me and would love to get these books. It would be an amazing late holiday gift for them if we were funded.
Thanks and God bless
