To Catch a Thief
It’s not a particularly well-regarded Hitchcock; the charge usually leveled at the movie is that it’s too slow, but with the exception of the flower-cart scene, I disagree. It’s more that the plot is a bit too simple, and you don’t have to pay very close attention, but it doesn’t drag or anything. It’s just not very suspenseful compared to some of the director’s other stuff — it’s more about the stars than the story, in other words. But I like Grace Kelly and Cary Grant a great deal. If it’s on AMC, try it. (11/24/03)
