What is going on with Ben Affleck’s hair in this movie?Seriously. It looks like…I don’t even know what it looks like.It looks, literally, like industrial carpeting. The hell?…Anyway. If you’re going to set a movie in the early eighties, that’s fine, I guess, but try not to make it quite so obvious that you’re only doing it for soundtrack reasons, and get the wardrobe right.I didn’t live in the East Village back then, so I don’t know for sure, but I’m almost positive that there were a couple of people who didn’t dress in that ’50s-retro/rockabilly style, but no, everyone in this movie is in Grace Kelly gear and fingerless gloves, and it’s just lazy. And Ricci’s Long Island “accent” is atrocious. It’s an okay movie as a movie, I guess, just kind of flimsy, and it’s very disconcerting to see Courtney Love looking, you know, sane and pretty, but she’s good in it, and I always like Casey Affleck. And Rudd’s sideburns are totally not era-appropriate, but that I can let go, because: hot!(9/14/05)
