“…Puns Escaped Unharmed”

‘Tis the season once again for headline fun with the word “bunting” — but while today’s does have a baseball subject, the bunting in question is not the effecting of an infield hit, but the drapery: “Yankee Fans Arrested for Stealing Bunting.”

    I won’t be concerned unless the headline is “Yankee Fans Arrested for Kidnapping Bunting.”

    I’d like to see the Yankees find enough security in the tri-state area to prevent the wholesale dismantling of the place at the last game of the season. I’m sure they have plans for salvaging and selling at amazing prices every seat, sign, and toilet in the place. But there’s only so much policing that can be done when the full house is bent on souvenir harvesting.

    My friend’s husband was part of the company that built Coors Field – and every brick is stamped “Coors Field” & the year it was built – they planned for the souvinirs!

    I always think of “Bye Baby Bunting” when I see the word Bunting…but I’m old as dirt, so…
