Just read in my Cynopsis.com daily bulletin that Jeremy Sisto is joining the cast of Law & Order next season. Rock! I’m mostly happy that the attempt on L&O life via dumping it into a Friday time slot didn’t succeed, but I’m also pleased that Sisto is getting work (I really liked Kidnapped, and him on it, and thought it was killed prematurely); and that Milena Govich is leaving the show. Govich improved over time — in the beginning of the season, I thought the new ADA would be the weaker of the two, but she grew on me, while Govich’s main value seemed to be in providing opportunities for Jesse L. Martin to pull “henh?” faces — but I love me some Creepy Jesus, so this is good news.

THANK GOD!! I could not stand her. They kept trying to sell her as some sexy, yet scrappy/tough girl, like the female version of RR/RW Derrick (except without the sexy), and I just wasn’t buying it. This, coupled with the departure of smug Arthur Branch, is very good news! Thank you! Now, if they could just get a good handle on the revolving partners at CI, my L&O life would be complete.
Jeremy Sisto on L&O? Yay! I liked the idea of Milena Govich (ie, a young female detective learning the ropes), but it was either the plot-line or her acting that really bothered me. She did better when they dropped the “hot cop” sub-plot because that was insulting to her character and our intelligence as viewers.
Now the question is who will they get to replace Fred Thompson? Will they finally have the Jack McCoy character run for DA (aside from the character’s professed disdain for politics) or will they find some one comparable to either a wise, yet weary, Adam Schiff or a tough, yet pleasant, Arthur Branch. As long as they don’t get another soppy Nora Lewin type, I’ll probably be okay.
Mothership might be worth watching on purpose again. Which, yay!
Now I just have to decide whether I’m finally going to cough up for cable so I can watch 1st run CI. I love D’Onofrio, but I’m not convinced he’s worth $50 a month when I could always buy the DVDs later. :-(

Yes, I am so excited about Sisto getting more work and in prime time! I adored Kidnapped (and have worn out the dvds) and was really upset when it was prematurely canceled, too. One of the best new dramas out there last season and no one really gave it a chance.
Has anyone seen Keri Russell’s new film “Waitress”? It’s got some problems, but Sisto gives the best, most convincing, utterly creepy performance of an abusive husband that I’ve ever seen. He’s amazing in it.
Probably not enough to make me tune back into L&O, though.
Awesome, I might actually start watching it again. I love Jeremy Sisto and thought Kidnapped was awesome. Gotta get the DVDs–I don’t even know how the show turned out! (And don’t want to, so please no spoilers!)
Deirdre, I just saw him in Waitress and I was terrified to remember that he was also Elton in Clueless. After the grope scene in the latter and the hitting in the former, I am never getting in a car with that man, ever.
Woo-hoo! I love Creepy Jesus! I may be able to return to the Mothership now, especially with the departure of FDT. Would Steven Hill come out of retirement? I can’t see McCoy as the DA.
Hooray! I must respectfully disagree that Govich improved as the season went along… Although, actually, she was so awful that I eventually just stopped watching new episodes, so I guess I wouldn’t know if she had. But she was show-wreckingly bad. Worse, even, than Rohmbot, who was just a big vacuum… at least she didn’t have any wisecracks to mangle.
Sisto was really great in Waitress; I just saw that yesterday. You constantly think he’s about to go bug-fuck over-the-top and then he pulls it back, which of course makes him totally creepier.
I’ve been in love with Jeremy Sisto ever since he played the douchebag preppie who strands Cher in the parking lot of a gas station which eventually leads to her getting mugged and showing up Paul Rudd’s snobby girlfriend with her knowledge of Mel Gibson’s oeuvre in the Clueless movie. And now he’s on one of my favorite shows and replacing a crap actress! (Frankly, if you aren’t Angie Harmon, you shouldn’t be on L&O) The casting gods have given humanity a windfall…
Liked him in Six Feet Under, and am glad to see the beauty queen detective debacle over.
Wonder what kind of character they’ll give him? Maybe a young Lenny Briscoe, pre-AA days? It seems like they never make mistakes any more or have real conflicts–it’s all just overcoming ripped from headline “twists.”
Not that playing a bad boy would be a stretch for him…
I’m psyched. I might start watching again now that Branch is outta there and I get some extra male eye-candy.
As for who will replace Branch, according to Fox News (I know!) Waterston’s in talks to take over the DA position. No word on who might then replace McCoy. What’s Mrs. Richard Gere doing lately?

It’s no longer just “talks”. He’s the new DA. I was upset, but at least they acknowledged that “politics isn’t his game”. I would hate for them to kill his character all together. No word on who will be McCoy’s replacement. I’m kind of hoping it is a woman. If we’re going to get less McCoy screen time, I’d like their to be some chemistry.
Jeremy Sisto is great on Law & Order, and very easy on the eye as well. I never miss the show now.
