Brokeback Mountain

I expected it to be really overrated, especially Heath Ledger, and I am thrilled to report that it was excellent, and that Ledger is really a treat to watch — just an amazing performance, and none of that showy Sean Penn shit either, he just does the work.  A couple of scenes had some weird editing happening at the end, but when the only complaint I have about a movie is some very minor interstitial tech business, it’s probably pretty damn good. Outstanding movie. The movie house, on the other hand…shut UP, Cobble Hill Cinemas!  Stop being so full of weirdos and having such cracked-out floaty-head wall art!  (1/9/06)
