Brothers and Sisters recap
“Kevin accepts that as the truth, although he still wants nothing to do with the blind date on the merits (‘I don’t like your friends’), but it’s obvious from outer space that she’s lying, which happens so often on TV and it bugs me every time. TV characters possess a boundless gullibility in the face of truly egregious bullshitting that just isn’t credible, and from a structural standpoint, I get why it’s done that way — if the lie-ee sees through the lie, you have no plot from which wacky misunderstandings may then proceed, and the episode is over in five minutes — but the audience already knows the character is lying, and any sensate person in real life would know the character is lying, so it’s marginally interesting at times to see how the characters extricate themselves, but it isn’t relatable because people don’t behave this way. Which is why I don’t watch sitcoms. ANYWAY.”

Not to mention soap operas. Even the characters who lie constantly are bad at it.
Maaaaan true. That shit drives me crazy as well.
You know what else bugs me about that scene and the scene with Kevin and Jason? They didn’t introduce themsleves? Kevin never asked for thie mystery date’s last name? It’s all so contrived.
In other news, who would have thought that sweet little Amy Abbott could get up to such shenanigans?
“Brothers & Sisters” is probably my favorite new show this season. Kevin is just dead sexy, and hysterical with the attitude. Is it just me or do Calista and Rachel need a little more makeup? I have heard that the makeup artists are backing off a little because hi-def highlights every pore – and it totally does – but would it kill them to throw on a little brighter lip gloss? I’m distracted by the superficial things, I know. Sorry.
Words cannot express how excited I am that you and Wing are both writing recaps regularly again! All the writers at TWoP are awesome, but you and Wing bring a brand of snark that I’ve missed since ’round about 2002. Welcome back!
I loved this week’s Brothers and Sisters recap (headless Marie Antoinette had me laughing for a good 10 minutes), but I can’t help feeling that the triumphant return of Sars and Wing Chun is being wasted on somewhat inferior shows. Are there plans to add any other (cough: better) shows, like Boston Legal or the entire Showtime slate? Weeds recaps could potentially be.so.freaking.awesome.
We’ve got plans, which I can’t reveal, but we do have access to better tracking tools, so we’ll see what those tell us.
I do think you’ll enjoy the summer slate, which will include recaps of some classic shows.
Quasi-unrelated question: I’ve seen the logo on the shirt that Justin was wearing in the last scene before, but can’t figure out whose it is…it looks a bit like a plant with one red leaf? Any idea?
