Fraud: Essays
I’d had this book for ages and finally grabbed it off the pile, and it’s outstanding. It’s like David Sedaris, in that the writing is perfectly turned and often extremely funny, but it’s not quite as…I don’t know what the word is. Less candied. Burns cleaner. If you’ve read both, you might know what I mean. Anyway, it’s a fabulous read, and I always admire that rare ability to go from deeply sarcastic, bitingly funny to quietly serious without hurting the reader’s neck. Rakoff is a master at that.
