Let’s go out to the lobby — and get ourselves a Couch Baron

Submitted by on March 20, 2012 – 12:14 PM26 Comments

UPDATED MARCH 23: The inaugural TN Movie Meetup is set! We’ll see The Trouble With Bliss on Saturday, March 24 at 3:30 PM — then step around the corner to Blue & Gold Tavern for a beverage and discussion. The movie’s playing at the Village East in NYC, and if you’d like to buy your tickets now, you can do that by clicking right here.

And don’t forget to bring your ticket stub — it could get you a discount on drinks (we don’t know that for sure, but honestly, B&G is so divey-cheap it kind of doesn’t matter, heh) and it could definitely get you a shot at autographed production loot. Plus, also, probably pizza! Free stuff + like-minded internet readers = yay!

TTWB stars, among others, Michael C. Hall, Peter Fonda, Lucy Liu, and Brie Larson — and it’s produced by John “the Couch Baron Ramos, who will join us for said beverage and discussion. Even if you can’t join us for the feelm, we hope to see you afterwards.

We’ll both be lurking around the theater beforehand (my hair is brownish now, and I’ll have a bright yellow handbag; CB is tall and looks kind of like Ben Affleck, but cuter), if you want to meet up outside at 3:10ish; we’ll be at Blue & Gold afterwards. Can’t wait to see you guys!

(Still looking for puntastic names for TN meetups; you could win a $10 gift card from Amazon if you coin a good one!)

  • Sharon says:

    Hollywood & Vine?

  • Bev says:

    Tomato Cluster ?
    Tomato Grappe ?
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes ?
the New Jersey flash mob ?
    you’re stepping on my tomatoes

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

    Sharon wins.

I wish I could join you guys, instead of being inside the winds of March out here in Seattle.

Who are the actors in that picture?

  • Nanc in Ashland says:

Wow–Sharon suggested the perfect movie themed meetup!

I was thinking along the lines of sauce, soup or salad, depending on the type but that’s about as far as my creativity goes.

  • Colin says:

Well, “Tomato [on the] sauce” would cover the tonight-we-drinking part, but not so much the movie meetup. Hrm.

  • Kristin says:

    To meet, Oh Nation!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

…Wow. And boo. And hee! And wow.

  • Colin says:

Sundry’d Tomatoes? Like, as in sun-dried? But…sundry? Because people?

…Yeah. I’ll see myself out. Heh.

  • Hannah says:

    Let’s Play Ketchup?

    Early Girls, Late-Nightshaders?

  • Bev says:

I like Nightshaders, a shorter version of Hannah’s great suggestion.

  • Couch Baron says:

    Attack Of The Killer Vines?

    (I’ll keep trying.)

  • Seankgallagher says:

Is there a way to drown your sorrows without drinking alcohol? (maybe I’ll just eat them away) Again, I’ll drop by the B&G after work, probably a little after 6 (if the F train is running), and since I can’t see the movie then, I’ll make a point of seeing it on Friday.

  • Snusana says:

I can’t wait to hear if the Yelp comments are true! Please report back, Nation, if you go the B&G.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Sean, eating your feelings is also an acceptable M.O. Heh.

  • Couch Baron says:

@Jen — I missed answering this yesterday, but it’s Michael C. Hall and Brie Larson.

    @Sean — Seconded!

  • MinglesMommy says:

GAHHHHHHH I really wanted to do this and now I have to work that evening… Hmm. Must finagle …

  • Cassie says:

Auuuugh! Another time when I wish I lived in New York! A chance to meet Sars AND Couch Baron?

I shall spend all day Sunday a-mope.

  • Profreader says:

    I’ll be there — can’t wait.

  • Colin says:

Oh noooo, I was going to buy my ticket ahead and then I forgot and now it’s sold out! Rage! Nice one, self.

Oh well. I’ll still join you all at Blue & Gold afterward, which, yay!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Colin, I had the same issue; click the second 3:30 showtime instead.

  • Colin says:

Dude. My life just got so much better. Thanks, Sars!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Ours too! Hee. See you soon!

And if you’re confused/not sure where we are/etc. and you don’t follow TN on Twitter, now’s a good day to start: @TomatoNation (and/or @couchbaron)

  • Profreader says:

Doink! Well, this is what I get for waiting to buy a ticket – it’s telling me it’s sold out. I might try in person just to see if I can get a ticket anyhow. Dadgummit.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Again: there should be two 3:30 shows listed. Try the second one. I don’t know why Fandango is doing that, but I was able to get a ticket clicking the second 3:30.

  • Profreader says:

… and who knows why Fandango did that. So glad I didn’t take their (its?) word for it. Thanks for organizing the meetup – very cool to meet some fellow followers of TN (and a bonus to meet Joe Reid of Extra Hot Great.) I hope other outings get organized. Sorry I had to take off early (overscheduled the day) but it was great to get down to the East Village.

  • MinglesMommy says:

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I missed it; forgot I had to work. I’m lousy at finagling. Hope to be there next time. :(.
