Notorious

I’d expected more; it’s not really 100 minutes’ worth of movie. Grant and Bergman both look lovely (and had a few of the hottest kisses I’ve seen on film), but I think it’s a little overrated as a classic. It drags and repeats itself in a lot of places.

I was actually pleasantly suprised by this one when I watched it years ago – I think I was burned out by all the Psycho/Vertigo/Birds Hitchcock and was in the mood for something less schlocky from him. I don’t remember much of the plot at all, but I remember being engrossed by it regardless (unlike North by Northwest, whose plot I needed a dissertation and flow chart to understand).

Yes- hot kisses. The scene where they kiss on the balcony when he’s on the phone is all one suuuperlong shot– classic Hitchcock. (And was supposedly very scandalous at the time content-wise, what with the ear nibbling and all.)
