Oscars 2012 Death Race Update: 3 weeks to go

Submitted by on February 6, 2012 – 9:28 AM8 Comments

Current score: Oscars 35, Sarah 26; 5 categories completed (thanks, Hugo).

Again, the Press Play scorecard is here — and after a little detective work and an HTML meltdown, it should be a lot easier to read it now. Every nominee I’ve seen is in red (…tomatoes, etc.). I think there’s a stray link that’s still not fixed, but we’ll get to it. If you see any other mistakes, please leave a comment.

Since we last spoke of this:
Rio
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Real Steel
Hugo
The Best Supporting Actress overview

Coming up:
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Kung Poo Fanda 2
 (j/k, it’s pretty good actually)

    Wait…Kung POO Panda?

I think your subconcious is leaking through your disclaimer, there.

  • Monty says:

The Press Play scorecard doesn’t have the Best Costume Design category on it. I kind of regret mentioning this, because that’s the category with Anonymous, Jane Eyre, and W.E. in it, so it’s kind of a drag.

Also, the “For more on how the Oscars Death Race began, click here.” link goes to the indiewire internal cms, not to a web page.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Oh, Anonymous. En route from Netflix, and I dread it.

But: yes, that’s a problem. Would you mind posting this comment on the Scorecard itself? I’m sorry to keep asking for that, but that will get the attention more quickly of someone who can fix it.

  • Monty says:

I would, but it magically got fixed overnight!

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

The magician’s name is Ken, and he’s awesome. Thanks, Ken! (And thank you guys for reporting these issues. Sorry for any inconvenience/confusion. Also, y’all with Sociable-skyscraper issues should find those resolved.)

  • Jenn says:

Is it wrong that I keep coming back to this page just to laugh at Franco up there?

  • Kitty says:

I’m happy to say that I’m actually doing much better in this year’s “Death Race” than I thought I was.
As I’m writing this I’ve seen 37 out of 61 films and I’ve completed 11 of the categories.

One of the art house theaters here in Seattle is showing all of the nominated shorts in a sort of mini festival this weekend. So I’m going to knock out 15 more films and 3 more categories by Monday.

And I might drag my ass to finally see Iron Lady tonight, which I’ve been dreading for weeks.

Once again, thanks for the inspiration to attempt this feat.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

You may find that TIL is so terrible that you’ll kind of have fun watching it. You may also find that it’s…you know. Terrible.
