Raw Deal: Horrible and Ironic Stories of Forgotten Americans

The title pretty much says it all.   I love Ken Smith’s writing style, and it’s a super-fast read, really interesting (but kind of depressing at the same time; the Charles Goodyear chapter is so bleak).   Highlights included the entire Garfield assassination sequence, which was funny in this horribly black way.   Great read; I got it for Mr. S for Christmas, but I already owned it myself, I’d just never read it, so when he got into it and was staying up until 3 AM reading it, I had to read it too.   (1/17/06)
