It isn’t as creepy as the American remake, but it holds together a lot better when you think back on it, because it doesn’t feel bound to explain every little thing; it lets you assume some things, and it’s more coherent as a result. But the acting seemed really off, and I assume that’s a function of Japanese inflection that I’m not accustomed to, because except for the actor playing Ryuji, everyone is…really not good.
