Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
It’s meticulously researched, and some of the descriptions made me nauseated enough that I had to put the book down to read something else for a little while — but there’s still something irritating about her prose. The constant asides and sidebars deviating from the chapter headings quickly got hard to take. She’s a polished writer and not unfunny; I can’t really explain why I found the jokeyness so annoying, but I did. It’s an informative book, but too long and too cutesy.

I agree that the sidebars got old and FAST, but I really liked this book too. I thought she was funny without being irreverant, and that’s a very thin line considering the subject matter. Reeeeeally interesting, but I’m a little morbid.
