The China Syndrome
I liked it; I liked Jane Fonda’s character. She can be hard for me to like as an actress sometimes; I’m not sure why. She’s just not fun to watch. Not the case here — she’s very good, and so is Jack Lemmon. It’s not a super-great movie, and in fact I’m not sure why I had it on my Netflix list to begin with, but it’s perfectly paced, it doesn’t oversell the point, and the end is predictable, but it works. It’s just a nicely put-together piece of work, which sounds like faint praise, but isn’t. (9/23/05)
