Tomato Nation Read-Along #5: Jacob Have I Loved

Submitted by on September 23, 2010 – 9:39 AM6 Comments

Paterson wins our latest poll handily; you can find the book here. (Bargain-hunters, check half.com or your local bookseller; it’s widely available secondhand, in my experience.) A somewhat downbeat selection to kick off the autumn, but I remember Bridge to Terabithia as far more depressing than Jacob Have I Loved.

Get ready to discuss on Monday, October 11 — we’ll have both an ongoing thread and a live chat that evening at about 8:30 ET.

I’m pretty excited about this, as I have a copy of the book but haven’t read it in ages. I’m looking forward to seeing it through an adult’s eyes.

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

Okay, fine, maybe it won’t be as gawdawful depressing as I remember.

I could never get through Bridge to Tarabithia. I have no idea why, as it would seem tailor-made for the kid I was, but it just never hooked me.

  • Christina says:

one of my favorite books from childhood — I think I even have it on my bookshelf still. Looking forward to revisiting it.

I am SO freaking excited about this one! I missed out on the My Sweet Audrina read-along because I couldn’t find a copy of the book (though to be honest, I didn’t look very hard, and buying a copy online felt like cheating somehow); but I DO have a copy of Jacob Have I Loved that I’ve been saving for a special occasion.
