I’ve seen the movie three times, and I still don’t think I know what in the Sam Hill is going on.Seriously.Can someone explain it to me?I mean, she’s blonde, she’s dead, she’s brunette and alive, she’s blonde again, she’s dead again, there’s brooding and crazy violins and the matriarch from Dallas — I mean, I understand what literally happens, I guess, but the explanation at the end is like, “Yeah…AND?”I just really don’t get it.(8/13/03)

I’m with you on this one. I took a class on Hitchcock spring semester and we had to watch this.

The deal is, the brunette was dressed up as the blonde to fool Jimmy Stewart and to give everyone a nice alibi. I really don’t get what the big deal is with the film though. I suppose it’s symbolically rich and has some effects that had never been seen before (the colorwheel montage is the only part I really liked) but I felt that the movie was slow. Maybe it’s just tired from all these directors emulating and refrencing it.
