Wanted: Berol Mirado No. 1 Pencils
I need to buy them online. No. 1 pencils, not No. 2s or any other grade. I’d like a U.S. retailer; anyone who can suggest an identical/similar style or brand that’s available here, please do (I don’t know from non-standard pencils). Thanks!

Is this what you’re looking for?

How about this?

Just go to any art store. Pencils labeled “B” without any number or other markings are the same as “#1” pencils.
Art supply stores also tend to have higher quality pencils than your average office supply store, so any brand you pick should be acceptable.
Gah, sorry, ten minutes of surfing and only found this (I’m assuming since “Berol” isn’t part of the name, it’s not quite what you need.)

(On the plus side, I know a lot more about pencils now. Did YOU know that Papermate pencils contain no rainforest wood? True story…)
Amazon has a few kinds.
Hi Sars,
I thought that an art store would be your best bet, and would still suggest it if you decide you want to buy in-person (since they should stock pencils in such a way that you can try before buying) but for online:

Enjoy your pencils!
I don’t know specifically, but Lee’s tends to have everything:

(except, apparently, a webmaster, since they don’t seem to have updated thier site since at least May)
Berol is a Sanford brand, as is Paper Mate. I’m guessing one of Paper Mate’s Mirado lines might fit the bill: http://tinyurl.com/ytbtgf

They are from a Canadian company that’s still family owned. Oh and B=1 since the US uses a different grading system.
I am a fan of obscure pencils/leads (I use 2mm non-repro blue leads every day!) and I’ve found that Pearl Paint is like, ridiculously awesome for that sort of thing. They have way more stuff in the store than they do online. I don’t know if I’ve ever actually seen the exact type you’re looking for, but it’s probably a good place to start.
Found this through a Google search for Mirado:

The #1’s you requested!
Papermate bought out Berol. I had a similar problem as I only use #1 Berol Mirado Black Warriors. So look for whatever model you like best in conjunction with Papermate rather than Berol and you should find it easy shopping. Well,as easy as it can be for a #1 user/lover/fan(?).
It appears that there are no Mirado #1 pencils available anywhere. They seem to have vanished from the face of the earth. ‘Very strange! Why is this?
I don’t know if you’re still looking, but I have a few dozen Berol #1 pencils. Let me know and I can give you specifics.
Thanks so much for the kind offer! They’re no longer needed, but I appreciate the thought.
How you doing, Sarah? I was researching these pencils and your site came up. Hopefully you’ve built a nice stash or have moved on. Wishing you the best.
Hi, Antonio! I ran out a few years ago, but married into a nice stash in 2013 ;), so it all worked out.
Can someone elaborate on the crime novel reference in this thread? I, too, only use Black Warrioirs, ever since being introduced to them in a crime novel I was reading at the time.
Thanks!
