Contest: Kudos…and a second mini-prize!
First: $15,280 as of this writing. That’s 10% of our initial goal. In…about a day. I would tell you that I can’t believe it, but I totally can. Outstanding work, guys.
Second: Thanks to all those who donated to music-related projects. The Mystery Intern and I will select the winners today.
Let’s keep the momentum going as we head into the weekend! Today’s mini-prize: a set of three Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, including the first one, “Rodrick Rules,” and “The Last Straw.”
How to win the set? Donate to “Urban Kids Need Books,” OR to “Motivating Reluctant Readers With Graphic Novels.” Forward me your receipt, and you’re eligible! Please send all receipts by 11:59 PM ET — thanks!
Check in over the weekend for more mini-prize opportunities — I’ll give at least a little something away each day — and don’t forget to make sure TN’s challenge ID is in your browser bar when you donate (23248).

ALERT! I was scrolling through the list looking for a particular project when I saw this one:

There’s only 8 hours to go on this project – let’s help these kids become the best lighting designers in their school’s history, and maybe find a love of the arts!
On it…can we get some backup, fellow bringers of the Awesome?
But that’s probably okay.
$32 more to go on the lighting project. Git it, Nation.
That graphic novel project is awesome. There must be comic book readers on here. Give 10% of waht your haul costs each month? $1/each title you keep up with? Give up one pull for a week and donate here instead? Send out a challenge to the comic readers you know and get that one funded.
– mom to comic reader.
The awesome must have been brought, becuase when I went to donate the last 7 dollars, I got the expired or funded message. Since the page said it still has 7 hours, I’m hoping that means it was fully funded.
You guys are so amazing- it took what, 15 minutes to finish that project after J put out the alert? Snif is right!
Thanks for letting us know about that one, J! Anyone else see any projects about to expire that we should know about?
@Bubbles: It shows up on my master list as funded. We’re good.
That said, there shouldn’t be any projects like that left; I try to weed out the ones that are going to expire on us. If anyone sees any others, please do post them here, but make sure the URL you post contains our challenge ID: 23248.
Great work, guys!
Somebody beat me to it, but that means it’s done! Go Nation!
This is so freaking awesome. I was originally planning on finding one perfect project and donating my max, but now I think it’s almost more fun to donate a smaller amount a whole bunch of times! So many students that need stuff! So many ways to be awesome!
I don’t generally comment at other times of the year, but I read TN all the time, and damn-the Tomato Nation is the most awesome nation around.
“Improving Graduation Rates By Giving ALL Students A Niche-#5” has 6 days left and needs $1,113:

@Shannon: the ID you posted doesn’t match the project you described.
Here’s the correct ID for “Improving Graduation Rates By Giving ALL Students A Niche-#5”:

…although, the one Shannon accidentally linked is also expiring soon! :) 3 days left, $450 to go. Bring it, Nation of Awesome! (And don’t screw up like me – make sure the Challenge ID is there!)

Thanks for finding the correct links, I was actually trying to post both of those projects and experiencing major brain fail.
