Contest: Master Tomatohead
Harder than it looked to execute, given Squirmy McGiggleton’s interesting in teething on the tomato leaf, but: baby in tomato, as promised.

“I wrote 63 songs this year. They’re all about Jeter.” Just kidding. The game we love, the players we hate, and more.
From Norman Mailer to Wendy Pepper — everything on film, TV, books, music, and snacks (shut up, raisins), plus the Girls’ Bike Club.
Helping public schools, winning prizes, sending a crazy lady in a tomato costume out in public.
Monologues, travelogues, fiction, and fart humor. And hens. Don’t forget the hens.

Dude, my ovaries just made a sound that closely resembled “WAUGH.” Should I be alarmed?
Dear lord, that child is cute.
Can I ask the nation to take a peek at this project? “All Your Worldly Goods” http://bit.ly/2nZ4eN. The book is so cool.
Holy guacamole – TEH CUTENESS!!!1!!one!!
… seriously, I think I just died.
Are you kidding me with that hat?
Please tell me this led to an uber-adorable round of Peek-a-boo.
Baby in a tomato
Baby in a tomato
Baby in a tomato
Eating popcorn in a tomato
Okay, that’s a different song. He’s real cute, though.
Oh, what a face. Sort of confused, yet happy. Like the teachers on the other end of this madness. ;-)
Hmmmm… are we “changing behavior by using incentives”? http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=310839&challengeid=23248
Are we making things a little dusty around here? http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=311917&challengeid=23248
Are we “breaking through” all sorts of barriers? http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=302541&challengeid=23248
Could we “picture this” that a baby in a tomato would be this adorable?? http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=285274&challengeid=23248
Tomato Nation + Donors Choose + October = WIN WIN WIN
I’m so glad that my money just came through because I was finally able to make my contribution to this year’s drive, and so I don’t feel guilty giggling my face off at the Tomato Kid.
How on earth did you get him to look like he’s standing in the suit? It must be twice as tall as he is!
The hat makes him look…simple, in my opinion, which is too bad, but he was a very good little sport about it. (So was Gen, who had to hold him in a really uncomf position to get the shot; she’s behind the costume.)
I’ll make it up to you, little fella.
Oh goodness, isn’t he delicious!!
@cayenne: Gen put her arms through the armholes from the outside; I dropped him in from the top. (I didn’t really drop him. I lowered him. Carefully.) Then Gen raised him above her head so she’s hidden behind the tomato.
By the way, we’ve reached over forty thousand students. 40,000!
As cute as the idea of a baby in a tomato was in my head, the reality is exponentially cuter. Who wouldn’t love to teeth on a giant cloth tomato leaf?
OMG, he is soooooooo adorable. It was so worth it staying up for this. Thank you, Sarah, and to all a good night. (2:40 am over here)
PS I bet I’ll wake up to 130 K.
SO ADORABLE.
Well, that was totally worth it! Master S is cute under any conditions, but as a teeny, tiny tomato, he’s just mindblowingly adorable.
He’s so cute!! I hope that you post pictures of him in his Hallowe’en costume, too. I loved the grizzly bear pics, since my little dude – a bit younger than Master S. will be going out as his arctic ursine cousin.
Inching closer to $130k. Go, nation, go! Sars – at what time is HP calculating the final percentage?
Love it. I wonder if it’s too late to find my daughter a tomato costume for Halloween.
@Sarah: Midnight, I believe. And we’re $5 away from 130K.
Oh thank god my kid is still young enough to be adorable even when bratty. Otherwise, I might do something… unwise. Like have another.
I second many people. I think I just died of cute. :-) If that doesn’t make your wallet jump out of your purse, I don’t know what will.
$30k, woohoo!
If you guys can take a look at this project: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=296554&challengeid=23248
It’s the only one from Delaware, and all they want is a whiteboard! The one they have might fall over on them. :( Only $169 to go!
$130K!!!!! Holy shiznit Tomato Nation!! We are awesome! :)
Also? That baby is insanely cute. If I weren’t already trying to get pregnant I think this picture would put me over the edge!
PS that is a cuuuuuuuuute baby.
$130K!
Do we get the money from HP as soon as they finish calculating the totals?
I believe the money comes in in a few days; it’s not instantaneous.
I humbly suggest this PA-based project:

It’s called, “Looking for a Leveled Library” to help students whose school library was damaged by a leaking HVAC unit.
The kids need books? I think I might cry…
Love the baby-in-a-tomato-costume! He’s got such a curious look on his face too!
More than 40,000 schoolkids are dreaming of a laughing baby dressed as a tomato, without quite knowing why.
Auntie Sadie’s Not-So-Secret Weapon is beyond cute. And I am so proud of what the Nation can do, I can hardly stand it.
Do you guys think we could get a few more projects funded before the end of the day?
This “Lord of the Flies” project is so close to getting funded–$67 left!

Also, this project was mentioned yesterday, and still needs just over $100.

For you sports enthusiasts, a lacrosse project with $101 left.

Awww! I think he looks quite fetching in that hat!
Tiny + cute = Leverage.
Baby + Tomato Costume = Epic WIN for a heck of a lot of kids who deserve to be as happy as Master Stupidhead looks in that picture :)
Ok, so baby in a tomato got to me. I contributed to another project. Lord of the Flies, I think … :)
(@Linda – I totally started singing the song while reading your lyrics. heh.)
The baby in the tomato got to me too.
Anybody want to join me in throwing some cash at this project: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=331372&challengeid=23248? I loved Three Cups of Tea, and it makes me happy to know that kids can work on literacy skills AND be inspired to be compassionate all through one project!
Has this one been mentioned yet?

Weekly Readers and a children’s version of Time magazine = quality.
I’d like to give a Tomato Nation shout-out to Gen and Mister Stupidhead for having such a cute baby – and allowing said cute baby to be pimped out for Donors Choose and TEH KIDZ!!!! Huzzah!
Holy moley, what a weekend. And what an adorable little man.
OMG, the cuteness. I think I just ovulated and I’m male.
Awwww! Master Stupidhead + Tomato = Adorable! He looks so happy! And now you know: Master Stupidhead is an extremely good sport when it comes to Aunt Sadie’s projects.
Totally adorable. For some reason, the picture makes me think of mischief…plotting…remember how in “Carmen Sandiego,” the villain with a silly name would pop out with a manhole cover on his head, look from side to side, and then sink back down?
YES WE CAN stuff babies into foam spheres! And top their heads with little roll-brim caps!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww (+ a thousand more wwwws)
Quintessential CUTENESS!!!
Omg, the cuteness! Is staggering! :D Woo-hoo, TN rocks!
It’s a baby. Who is also a tomato. *dies* So cute!
Yummiest! Tomato! Ever!!!!
