In case you skimmed over this/haven’t visited the main contest page/whatever:
Your DC receipt is your contest entry. You must 1) forward me a receipt, or a screenshot, or some proof of donation, and 2) receive the form letter back from me in order to be entered.
So, if you’ve donated, thank you so much! But you aren’t entered automatically; you have to forward me proof of donation.

And regardless of your number of donations, you’re just entered in the contest once, right?
I’ve been refreshing my screen every 15 minutes…it’s like a game to guess how much it’ll go up! Great work, Sarah and all the rest of your good samaritans!
Is it safe to assume that you are far behind on the “2) receive the form letter back from me in order to be entered” part? I’m 90% certain that I forwarded a receipt on Monday, but haven’t received a reply. I don’t want to fill your mail box up with repeats if its not necessary.
Not that far behind. Check your spam trap.
@KPP: Me too, and it’s not in the ol’ Bulk folder. Happy to resend if need be though!
66%! What happens if you win all of the awards that the leaderboard is set up for?
No idea, actually.
It would be in keeping with the theme of AWESOME if the entities giving the awards (Yahoo!, Google, etc) each take the amount we raise, add a zero to the end and donate THAT.
From each website of the company award givers (some are more specific than others):
Google award:
We’ll post links to the winners’ blogs here, and we’ll also throw in a $500 gift certificate for each winner to spend on DonorsChoose.
Yahoo award:
The blogger who motivates the most readers to participate in the Blogger Challenge will get lunch with Chief Yahoo Jerry Yang.
Six Apart:
…we will give awards to the bloggers who help the greatest number of students.
Federated Media Award
We’re also sponsoring an award for the bloggers (FM or not — open to all) who come up with the most creative incentive for their readers to give.
We’re definitely messing up the DC website with our wacky generosity — I’ve seen the dollar signs in the “Needs” amounts replaced with pound signs and other symbols at times, and currently the top two partially-funded proposals are marked “Expired,” even though their expiry dates aren’t until next spring. Hey, we’re all gobsmacked by our collective generositude… why shouldn’t the DC mainframe be?
Awesome! (Has anyone done a count on how many times that word has been used during this campaign? Because that would be awesome!) They cite you as inspiration for the whole leaderboard thing in the first place, so it would be fitting.
Wow; when I left work at 5:30, we were at 66%, I think, maybe less. It’s 45 minutes later, and we’re up to 72%. It’s starting to sound redundant in the comments, but it merits another big “Wow.”
I am, however, concerned about the two projects that say they’ve expired without being fully funded, even though their expiration dates aren’t until next year. Anyone know what gives?
I got an error message when I tried to email the donation receipt.
Sars, obviously I know your e-mail address because it’s in my address book, but I don’t see it anywhere on the main contest page or in this particular entry. Methinks the noobs might get confused. Am I just losing my eyesight in my old age, or is it really not there?
sars (at) tomatonation (dot) com (I had to find it earlier…it’s in one of the comments sections).
75%…wait for it…AWESOME!
Yep, Sars is definitely winning the Federated Media one. (Probably all of them really.) Because the tomato costume? The dance? The matching gifts? The prizes? I dare anyone to come up with better incentives.
94%.
All told, that adds up 831 donors, 4809 students affected, and 100 uses of the word “awesome” (and all variations thereof).
This rocks beyond the telling of it.
