Update: 10/1, 3 PM
1. A few of you have asked how you can be sure you donated to the TN Challenge and not just willy-nilly. Well, whatever you donated to, it’s still awesome, but if you entered the Challenge through the little widget down there, or through the main TN Challenge page, it counts for TN. In other words, don’t bookmark the challenge and then go back and search it later; go through the Challenge page. If you saw me in my tomato outfit in that picture, you’re set.
If you’re not sure, forward your information to Zach at zach at donorschoose dot org; he’ll straighten it out.
2. Not sure I got your email/have a question/asked about a prize donation? I’m a little behind on email at the moment, mostly because of the insane clown ASS-KICKING you guys are doing today, but I will get back to you by tonight.
3. Speaking of that: over $9100 already! Well done, lads and lasses.
4. Thanks so much for fulfilling the “Relentless Readers” project; I will contact the winners shortly.
I’d like to do another mini-prize drawing now. This one honors Paul Newman’s charity organizing — three (3) winners will each receive a copy of any Paul Newman movie they’d like, on DVD or Blu-Ray. To qualify for this mini-prize, please donate to “A People’s History” and forward me your receipt. (That link is connected to the TN Challenge; no need to reroute.)
If you enter for and/or win a mini-prize, you’re still eligible for the main-contest prizes.
***This just in! Generous reader Keira has offered to add Hole In The Wall Gang t-shirts to the mini-prizing for this round! Paul Newman founded the HitWG charity, so let’s hope our work pleases him. Thanks, Keira! Buy some Zinn, peeps!
5. There’s baseball on. Go get you some.

Um, thanks for making me cry this morning. So nice of the teachers to come by and post here. I still haven’t fully recovered from last year’s packet from the classroom I supported (where one of the kids asked me why I would give money to kids I didn’t even know…ha!!).
And, though I am really happy I supported the reading project I selected, I can’t BELIEVE I missed the Little House one! So, looks like I will be donating my Pumpkin Spice Latte money next week too – and looking for more cherished tomes from grammar school.
Speaking of that, there’s a Stephen King proposal — specifically, “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” buried in there somewhere. And “Persepolis,” though we may have funded that one already (I was not surprised the Neil Gaiman got fulfilled in like ten minutes).
I am a school librarian in Los Angeles who always has a plethora of proposals posted on DonorsChoose to enrich and empower my library program. I’d just like to thank everyone in the TomatoNation community who gave to DonorsChoose. It takes a village to educate our kids, and I am profoundly grateful to you for your commitment and dedication. Your collaboration makes it possible to inspire our kids and offer them meaningful experiences in the classroom and in their neighborhood. We literally couldn’t do it without you!!!! Thank you a trillion times cubed!!!!
Thanks so much for taking a look at “Remembering the Flood.” It’s great to know that people outside of the education community care so much about what is going on in the classroom.
It may not take a village to raise a child, but it certainly does take a village to teach one!
Thanks again!
“Thanks for promoting my project.” The extra resources are always appreciated and give so much more to the curriculum we teach day to day.
I had to *dig* for that Neil Gaiman one — it was on the second to last page! (Honestly, I didn’t know it would be there, but when I stumbled on it, I wasn’t going to let it sit…)
The “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” proposal expired all of a sudden – it’s too bad, too. “Different Seasons is a fantastic book.
I am so excited my proposal has been chosen by Tomato Nation. My children all 600 of them who come into my science lab will be thrilled to hear we are part of this campaign. I want to thank all those involved in helping educators educate our children. Sarah Bunting your are one special lady who cares enough to get others involved in education. My heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes out to all those who are willing to donate to mine as well as so many others. When my lab is complete with the equipment needed I will send pictures of all the children and Animals we can have in our science lab. Thanks Again Again
Thank you for trying to help our project get funding. There isn’t much support for thinking outside the box these days, and so in-house funding just hasn’t been forthcoming. But it seems as though the “We the people” crowd has other ideas… thank you.
Maybe the title isn’t catchy enough :”Animation Films Using Clay and Digital Cameras for 5th Grade”
I’ve got mounds of clay and storyboards ready to go. So just the prospect of this thing getting funded has really been a shot in th arm.
I’m a teacher desperate for help getting my kids some decent dictionaries– I appreciate all and any help I can get– and Just wanted to “shout out” to all those forward-minded folks who help take matters into their own hands and help teacher like me. As we know, public education is suffering right now, and we cannot afford to “leave our kids behind”– Decent, updated dictionaries should be a basic for any classroom. –Mahalo from the Big Island of Hawaii.
Thank you to all who helped fund our water quality testing kit! We look forward to seeing how the choices we make with our environment help or hinder our natural resources.
My request was funded because of you!!! This is my first project to post with Donors Choose. I am so excited right now! My students will not know what to think when I tell them about you, your support, and your blogs. Donors Choose is a wonderful website and your support is appreciated by all. Thank you! Thank You! THANK YOU!
