Save The Date: Valentomato Dance, 2/15/14
1/16/14: Please RSVP if you haven’t already. I need a final head count by tomorrow, 1/17, so that I can start nailing down venue stuff. CAN’T WAIT YOU GUYS!!1!
It’s happening: a tomato outfit, swathed in cheap satin, posing for pictures against a cheesy backdrop. Also, punch and awkward slow-dancing!
The Valentomato Dance is Saturday February 15, 2014! Woo!
In order to nail down stuff like venue, entertainment, and so on, I need to know how many of you can come — and with the utmost love and respect for everyone’s busy/combustible schedules, I need a realistic head count. A few things to know to help you make the call:
- Valentomato will take place in Brooklyn, NY
- I will choose a venue with hotels nearby
- expect food, party favors, and a “nerd table” playing card games that consists of, um, most of the attendees
- expect also to meet and hang with your fellow Nationals, i.e. the funnest part
I hope we have a big old hoedown, but if it’s just a handful, that’s fun too — I just need to start planning, so! 1) Let me know if you can pretty much definitely come, and who’s your date (you can have more than one). 2) Post any questions or suggestions in the comments. (I’ll get one out of the way: this pretty much isn’t for the small fry, plus if we’re at a bar…you know.) 3) Want to help out with snacks, playlists, crepe paper, or anything else? bunting at tomatonation dot com, or crowdsource it below.
…Eeeeee! Dirk Birthworthy, Professional Actor is painting our photo-memories backdrop and I’m already hunting for tomato confetti online. GET EXCITED!

In.
Realistically, sadly, my regrets. BUT, did you find the confetti yet? http://www.partyswizzle.com/TomatoConfetti.html
Kee-yooooot!
Realistic regrets, dreaming/win the lottery, of course, what the hell else would I be doing with myself on 2/15????
For all those who can attend, I am jelly and please have a wonderful time!
Absolutely in, with at least one date.
I would totally come to this. Also, I’m now a Brooklyn resident so that makes it easier. Is it only for singletons, though, or are marrieds welcome (so long as we’re not smug)?
It’s for everyone! Come on your own, bring a date, bring three dates if you want!
I will be both there AND square.
I’m in. Looking forward to meeting fellow Nationals. I haven’t been to New York since the mid-90s so I’m going to take a few extra days to hang out in a city I love. Can’t wait, really looking forward to this!
You know, I was thinking this would be a drive too far, but if there are hotels nearby, that’s what I’ll do! Count me right in.
I’ll be solo, but if there’s another National who might wanna go halfsies on the room, I’d be amenable to that.
Possibly in with a plus one if a) I have not started a new job in the meantime, b) I can get the finances worked out, and c) the plus one isn’t at a conference.
I’m in, and likely solo. Lurking in the corner, much like here.
Also, I’m happy to help out in any way you might need. I’m local to the city, although not actually in Brooklyn.
Boo, I’m a no–some friends and I get together for each set of Olympic opening ceremonies, and for the Winter Olympics, we go some place warm. All that means is that I’ll be in L.A. a week before this, and it’s too much flying around during my busy time of year.
I know you didn’t need to hear all about my regrets, but they are BIG. Man.
Wish I could, but Alaska to NY is a bit too far to drive. Have fun making crepe paper tomatoes!
I will almost certainly be there, possibly with a plus 1!
SO there. Plus 1. :-D
Is it too late to RSVP with a plus one? We would are on LI and would to come.
Not at all!
MAN, I wish I could come! Valentine’s Day is my wedding anniversary (….I know, I know). Mr. Meredith just started a new job, though, so we can’t leave town. Have fun!!!
Aw, I understand. It’s why I won’t be going to anyone else’s parties on the 4th of July from now on. (FIREWORKS GEDDIT)
I hope you guys can come. I’ve been working on a “dress” to go over the tomato costume and it’s…indescribable.
Wish I could make it!
I’d love to come but I think I’m going to be away that weekend. I’m a local, though, so if plans change and the head count has any flexibility, I’ll revise…
Can I just say that I’ve been telling everyone that I’m going to New York for a dance? The responses I get are hilarious! No-one seems to be able to grasp the concept of flying to another city for a party. I can’t wait!
