Save The Day: April 27
8:30 AM update
Goooooood morning! $137,310 as of this writing. Did you know that you’ve out-raised what you raised last time in the same time period? Y’all just keep getting better at this. (Or win more Pick 3s. Whatever gets it done, Gamblors. Hee.)
Candy mini-prize is still in play ’til noon ET.
Looking for a donation suggestion? A couple of teachers can help you out. Let’s hear from Mr. Paul:
My high-school math students can’t afford their own graphing calculators, which can make it tough to explore quadratic functions and sine curves in the same way that juniors and seniors out in the suburbs do. My kids have to work 2 or 3 to a school-provided calculator, and that means that at any given moment, over half my class isn’t really using the technology. Any gift to my project (Help Level the Technological Playing Field in Math!) in the next 24 hours will get you an entry for a $25 Amazon gift card. Forward receipts to mr[.]paul[.]chec[@]gmail.com. Give my kiddos in the nation’s capital a leg up and help stock our classroom with some shiny new calculators!
And sticking with the “teachers with first-name last names” theme, Ms. Kelly also has a prize for you:
Like many teachers, my school is facing drastic budget cuts and increased class sizes for the next school year. This means fewer resources in the classroom and less time for teachers to give individualized instruction to students. I am trying to prepare for this AND plan how to meet the needs of ALL my students with my project, Every Child Needs an Apple a Day! It needs quite a bit of funding, but this is a project I KNOW will do wonders for student engagement and achievement. Please take a look and if you have any questions, leave them in the comments below — I’m happy to answer! With every donation, you will be entered into my drawing for one of the following: a $50 gift card and a $25 gift card to either Amazon or DonorsChoose.org — your choice! No need to forward your receipt. Entries will be accepted until midnight on Friday. Thank you, Tomato Nation and donors, for supporting our students!
Calculators, ipod touches and candy prizes, I am there :)
For every project funded from my giving page a $10 donation is made, so after you have hit up the calculators and ipod touches see about finishing off a project or getting one even closer off of the under $100 list http://tomatohelper.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/projects-with-less-than-100-to-go/
I got 5 thank you packets in the mail and there is nothing better to put a smile on your face and a few happy tears in your eyes :)
Thank you Sarah, Charmaine, and Tomato Nation for your support of my project, “Every Child Needs an Apple a Day!” If anyone has any questions about this project after checking it out, please let me know! There’s always a purpose for the items I request through Donors Choose, and if that purpose isn’t clear I’d love to tell you more! :-)
An important part of life is GIVING BACK to others. One person can MAKE A DIFFERENCE! The first step is being willing to try. These students are willing to “JUST DO IT”. There are SIX more COMMUNITY SERVICE projects that I hope will inspire you to give. They ALL have Crate & Barrel “ALMOST HOME” matching funds that will go away soon!
All donors who contribute to any of these 6 projects that are completed will be entered into a drawing for one a WAITING FOR SUPERMAN movie DVD per project. We have up to 6 DVD’s as prizes. This offer is good through MIDNIGHT WED (PST).
Check them out on the PETS4KIDS or FIRE! FIRE! giving pages
