TN Fall Contest: Good Evening, Mr. And Mrs. Awesome

Submitted by on October 3, 2007 – 11:52 PM24 Comments

And all the ships at sea!

95 percent as of this writing. Won’t be long now.

1. If you haven’t gotten a receipt: a) I’m never more than a few hours behind on those, unless it’s overnight, so if you haven’t gotten a note from me saying your entry is logged, I probably didn’t get it. TN email is kind of overloaded the last few days, so I may be seeing some duplicates, but b) sending it again doesn’t count against you or anything; before I do the drawing, I’ll weed out the dupes.

2. From DC Zach re: the “expired” projects:

The projects that are showing up on your challenge as “expired” are actually fully funded. I think all the donations from Tomato Nation have given the site a little gas. I’ve reported it to our tech team and hopefully it’ll be cleaned up soon.

Thank you.

    96%.

I am floored. And a little teary.

  • Julia says:

How ridiculous is it that your fans are so great as to cause a well-structured and well-equipped site to malfunction?

  • Sars says:

@Julia: Happens on TWoP all the time! Hee.

  • JeniMull says:

I was trying to explain this phenomenon to the hubby tonight and I could barely finish because I was getting so emotional. What a wonderful thing in which to be a part!

  • Kelly says:

Maybe we need to lay off the donations for a day or so – give Donors Choose some time to burp.

  • autiger23 says:

I’m sure you’ll see this when you get up, but just in case, I think it’s hovering at 99% because it needs another project to finish out that last $39. Hee! As soon as you add one, I’ll be ready to toss in to finish it up. :) Gratz on a second round of awesomeness!

  • Jaime says:

I think we’ve broken Donor’s Choose, because all the projects are fully funded or “expired” and it still says we have $39 to go to finish up our goal. Is it bad that breaking a website with TOO MUCH GIVING makes me laugh a little?

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 27 days of this contest. TWENTY-SEVEN days, people. Because, we’ve already met the goal, the tomato dance goal, and the crazy matchy-matchy goal. I say let’s just make the next round super difficult like matching everything we’ve donated thus far. If we can do $60k in 4 days, I’m sure we can do another $60k in the next 27 days.

    Go TN!

  • Ashley says:

Oh no!! The only projects that can be funded now are listed as expired!!!

    With only 1% to go!!!

  • Kona says:

As of 8:15, it’s at 99%. We only need $39 more!

  • rhiannon says:

99% here. I only get paid once a month, and on the 20th at that…do you have any idea how much I would love to chip in that last $39 and make it all done?

Sars, would it be a reasonable assumption that one of our emails has eaten either my email to you or your reply about donating a prize? (This would be the one where I wrote back with pictures.)

  • Trash says:

I saw that we only need 40 bucks or so to finish it off, and I was going to just donate it, but there aren’t any projects left. Can you find one so we can fund it?

  • Rachel says:

Heee… 50k. and then some. My brain is a crazy from the awesome. heeee.

  • Zeep says:

$39 bucks to go, but we don’t have any open projects… halp.

  • doriette says:

FYI, I just went to DC to check the status. The good news is that it’s at 99%! The bad news is that everything on the page is either “Funded” or “Expired.” (Which by now we know means funded, but still, it looks like there’s nothing available to let anyone bring 99% to 100%.)

  • WendyD says:

Good Thursday morning, TN! Looks like we’re pretty much done. $39 left on the slider but no more shiny green buttons to push to finish it off. I’m sure the DC magicians and Sars will get it straightened out in no time.

  • Tisha___ says:

    Holy crap! 99%

  • FloridaErin says:

    99%!

  • baggage says:

Ok, it says all we need is $39 to be at 100%. I could swing $39 but everything says funded or expired!!

  • Stephanie says:

The DC site shows only $39 left! But all the projects are either funded or expired. So I think we’ve pretty much cleaned house.

  • Laura says:

Okay, so 5609 kids impacted by our awesomeness? That is more than the capacity of my elementary, middle and high schools, combined. Times 2 (we lived sort of in the country). That is amazing. And also awesome.

  • Krissa says:

Hee! I’m delighted to my toes that the site is gassy — I’m sure someone there is not so pleased with the fixing of the things and the whatnot, but I hope the other people at DC are falling over with glee. I love seeing all those little “funded” bars stacking up!
I’m surprised this hasn’t made some sort of feel-good story on the national news (yet).

  • Shannon says:

    Dear Tomato Nation Awesome Patrol:
Your awesome is the most awesome of all the awesome!

  • Hollie says:

Hobie, go stomp around and wake the food person! We need more projects to fund!

  • Cij says:

Holly, you are so right. Hobie- wake Sars up- hopefully it will be like Christmas morning for her!
