TN Fall Contest: Moosh!

Submitted by on October 8, 2007 – 2:57 PM17 Comments

Zach just emailed me to say that the DC tech team is combining all the Tomato Nation challenges/bonus rounds into one monster challenge; you probably won’t see any weirdness on the front end, and it should be completed by 3 PM ET. But if you’ve donated in the past couple of hours and you had any problems, or didn’t get an email or whatever, drop Zach a line — zach at donorschoose dot org.

Percentage/additions update later today.

Psst! Sars, I think you need to add another project to the Final Awesome, unless my math is all wacky–the amount of money left in the ones up is less than what’s needed. Maybe it’s because of the one that expired because of the retired teacher? Dudes, I’m bored at work, I can’t help doing this stuff. Also, 96%? So awesome.

  • Regina says:

I know y’all will understand, but my stomach did a little flip when I saw the numbers for how many students we’ve impacted.

    TN is, well, awesome.

  • Sars says:

If everything’s going to end up in one project, it doesn’t really matter; I’m going to have to add more anyway, so let’s just wait on that.

  • Rebecca says:

That combined number of students impacted is truly awesome…as is the new combined goal. Six figures just makes it that much more eye-popping.

  • Jenn says:

hey, if I’m the only one who’s confused, maybe someone can help me out…when did the goal become 100K?

  • Cij says:

I’m getting all misty eyed, seeing how we’ve helped ten thousand+ students and we’re not even halfway through the month!! Sars, can I nominate you and TN for a Nobel Prize for Awesome?

  • FloridaErin says:

    Almost 73,000?! Jesus, people! :-D

Also, I’ve been using the word awesome a lot more in my daily conversations. I totally blame all of you.

  • Zeep says:

Holy crap– our final awesome target is now $100k? Of course we can!!

Glad DC combined it– $72k and counting…

  • Sars says:

@Jenn: Earlier today. Because you *can* spell “awesome” without “six figures,” but why try.

  • A^3 says:

I bet the TN awesomeness has inspired the readers of the other blogs to step it up a little bit, too. I think Sars and her nation have had an effect on the Donors Choose challenge that can’t be measured in the numbers we see on the mooshed TN challenge page. And that means more kids benefited!

  • KristinaXI says:

Sweet holy crap. There has to be another word for awesome out there.

  • Grace says:

Paraphrasing the great Barney Stinson (who is also a big fan of the word “awesome”) — this contest is legendary! I’m so proud to be part of such an amazingly generous community. Y’all rock. Seriously.

  • KristinaXI says:

@ Grace: I just hope no one here is lactose-intolerant.

  • Margaret in CO says:

@KristinaXI (or diabetic, ’cause we’re just so damned SWEEEEEET!!!) ;-D

  • jbp says:

How come the leaderboard doesn’t display the projects that still need funding at the top? I almost thought we were all done at first, and I had to scroll down a bit. Just my $.02.

  • Sars says:

I agree that that’s counterintuitive, but again, I can’t really control Donors Choose’s back-end structuring. Feel free to send an email to zach at donorschoose dot org to ask why it’s set up that way — and/or with any other questions about their site.

  • RetroMom says:

    hee. Awesome Sum. Awesum. hee.

ok, call me a dork, I don’t care. I like word puns.
