TN Fall Contest: You Broke The Bank…And Also The Site
Just kidding! Congratulations: the first bonus round is over. The tomato dance is on.
And for ten minutes, I couldn’t get into my own admin panel because we overloaded the CPU. Well done, folks. Well done indeed.
The 50K bonus round is now open. Remember, this 10K is matched in full by me and Claire Danes.

This campaign is freaking addictive. We’re having our annual charity campaign at work and its not remotely as interesting as this. Plus, I already received a thank you for a project that I was able to help complete on Monday. Warm fuzzies for the students who get to read graphic novels! Mmmm, comics.
Rain–do it anyway! And then tell them all about how awesome we all are–maybe they’ll want to join us.
Sars, are there really only going to be 3 rounds? Seems a shame to end a month-long challenge before the first week is up (and I bet round 3 gets fully funded today). Maybe you can have a “Gravy” round for the rest of the month?
Almost at the halfway point of Bonus Round II as I type this.
Damn, Sars, I’m suddenly thankful that you harness your power for good. If you ever turned to the dark side and brought the whole Tomato Nation with you, the world would be in a heap of trouble.
@Amy: I’ll figure something out. One thing at a time.
So, I was just telling my sis about this, including the tomato costume, and she pointed out something which had failed to occur to me: The Today Show is probably going to be filming out on the Plaza when Sars arrives for work wearing the tomato costume.
It is to giggle.
I also donated to the hula hoops. How can you not support a project that encourages kids to hula hoop!
The TN community is so amazing!
Yay! We’re spending Claire Danes’ money now!
@Diana: your argument was far too convincing, and I am a sucker for cooking.
(“Kids In The Kitchen And Learning At Home.”)
Dang, I was going to wait until the end of the week for payday, but at the rate y’all are going the Toni Morrison project I was rooting for was already going to be funded. So: funded! BTW, they do need a second set of 10 reading guides in case we go to quadruple bonus land: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=109507
52%… over $45k in less than 3 days. Freakin’ awesome.
52%! We’re into the Clare Danes portion of the challenge! WOO!
Sars, this is pretty incredible — you’ve done a great thing, that in two and a half days, you’ve motivated people to raise $45,000+. It’s been a blast!
The only “bad” thing about this amazing amount of awesomeness? The rest of the Internet just…sucks, by comparison. I’m haunting here and the leaderboard…
I love that I just funded a proposal to buy students in need… owl poop.
Go “Dig This: Archaeologists Do!”
54% – I just had to go donate again. I only wish that I weren’t on a poor college student’s budget so I could give more!
What, no Vine today?
Kidding!
We’re gettin’ our boogie on at Studio 54%!!
Excellent! A teacher is hoping to help her kids learn reading and vocabulary with A Series of Unfortunate Events. I wish I could’ve funded the whole thing — every child should read some Lemony Snickett. Glad my small donation will help them get there…
@Jamie: click the “project cost report PDF” link on the left side of the project page if it does the weird “expired, but not fully funded” thing (like ballroom dancing did in bonus round 1). That says it’s been funded, so I think it’s a glitch, probably because our awesomness is overwhelming the site.
