Tomato Nation Goes To Washington: The Video
Yes, that guy really did yell, “C’mon, ketchup!”
Thanks to Mr. S for another fine effort in the footage-and-editing department — and of course to all of you for your extraordinary accomplishment.

Nice job! See what asking 1000 or so of your friends can do?? Thanks for asking us to do it Sars. :)
Love it – another masterpiece, Mr. S! And lI ove the fact that Sarah would find & highlight a spelling error. Maybe it meant “toes of toma”? No? OK, then.
The signmaker’s school could have used some Donor’s Choose help in spelling lessons.
Thanks for the fun times with this effort – looking forward to the next one!
That was masterful. Particularly the smoodly PIR meeyooosic, although the opening funk was nice too. Overall, I’d have to say the best part was the way so many people just didn’t bat an eye at the spectacle of a grown woman striding purposefully about dressed as ripe produce.
Loved Sars on the carousel.
You make me so proud to be a part of Tomato(e) Nation!
Aw, I really enjoyed that. Great job, Sars. A little bit of hope to start the morning.
The Price Is Right music is pretty choice. Well played.
I didn’t realize from the photo array that your hat was knit! Now? Wannnnnnt. Want baaaaaad.
Good job, every tomato everywhere!
Dig that Dave Bunting groove! He and Dave Holmes need to get together.
Awesome! I loved you in your smart car.
Tomato on the Merry-Go-Round made everything worth it- Hee!!!
@cayenne: “The signmaker’s school could have used some Donor’s Choose help in spelling lessons.”
I know, right? I love the disappointed “this is what happens when kids don’t get funding” face on Sarah.
A stellar job by all.
The best!
I’ve always wondered – how does it feel driving the smartcar on the freeway? Because they are awesome and I would love to have one in SF, but the Bay Area also requires much freeway driving. And I think I would be afraid of getting squished. . .like a tomato? :)
It’s not scary on the highway at all; the seats are pitched high enough that you don’t feel all that tiny (vs. in a Mini, which is slung lower, so while it’s a larger car, you feel smaller compared to the semis).
I’ve taken her on the BQE many times; if it still feels safe there, it’ll feel safe anywhere.
Love it! Especially the look on your face standing behind wax GWB. I half expected to see laser beams come shooting out!
If he was making a ketchup/catch up pun on purpose, he is the fastest-thinking pedicab driver in all the land.
Great video!
Okay, I know the two glasses of wine I’ve had are part of it, but I had to blink a little when those folks asked you “What’s the website?” and you told them donorschoose.org, not tomatonation.com.
It made me happy all over again to be a reader of this fine site and fan of yours!
Is the bridge that is shown in the opening sequence in Maryland?
I think so. We had footage of the Del Mem Br (hee) but I don’t think any of it made it into the video.
princess lola – exactly, I was hoping to see wax GWB start melting! That would have been so awesome!
Sars – thanks for making and sharing! I’m so happy to be a part of Tomato Nation.
Appropos of almost nothing, http://www.twitter.com/RealHughJackman (who seems to be the real deal) has pledged to give $100K to a twitterer’s fav charity. You have to convince him in 140 characters or less (via twitter). I’ve put in a reply pimping DonorsChoose.org, but you’re the real wordsmith here, Sars, so … twitter him!
And a call to the Tomato Nation for back-up tweets couldn’t hurt!
