Update: 10/2, 5:30 PM
1. Go read all the nice comments from participating teachers here — I don’t know who tipped them, but it’s nice to have them here. Welcome, guys! Thanks for everything you do.
2. Readers: thanks for everything YOU do. As of this writing, $20,899. So: almost twenty-one thousand dollars. In…two days. Less than, really. We who are about to cry salute you. [ETA: You just passed 21K. If this Challenge is a large set of steps, you are Rocky Balboa.]
3. Everyone who contributed to the Paul Newman mini-prize effort, thank you so much! I’ll start contacting you this evening, so watch your inboxes.
3b. Everyone else: OH SO YOU HATE POPCORN AND KIDS NOW THAT’S JUST GREAT. Just kidding; you’re also awesome.
3c. Next mini-prize challenge coming up.
4. Check the prize page, at the top to the right; new stuff goes on the list every couple of hours. Lots of loot, lots of love.
5. [hic] I love you guysszzhhh!

Quick request, too: if you see projects with *less than a week left*, can you email those to me? Especially big-uns. Thankee!
How sad is it that the first thing I did when I got up this morning is to see where the Awesome challenge was? You rock Sars, as do TN readers – I’m sending you all awesome good vibes from Australia.
Thanks, Wendy!
THANKS, 21K!
I just had a skim through all the projects looking for those about to expire.
This one has 2 days and $896 to go

And this one has 5 days and $545 to go

All the other projects had 12 days or longer so I’m not worried about them getting funded. TN will be onto a new 50K by then.
Also It would be awesome as an address option we could have ‘Tomato Nation’ when entering our details for the Donor from this place line. Anyone know if it’s possible?
Way to go, all! It’s so fun to get involved in this each year. I pitched in for “A House without Books is Like a Room with no Windows,” because I TOTALLY agree – kids need books! Books rule!
Cannot wait to see Sars prancing around in a tomato costume at the White House. Hee!
Er, how long did it take us to get to 21K last year? A week?
We are becoming more and more awesome every year!
Better make sure Ed McMahon doesn’t find out about us, though – he’ll be sending non-stop emails to Sars: “HEEEEEEEY-OH! Help me out!”
Oh, the comments from the teachers are even more tear-jerking than watching the total go up and reading what people are sacrificing and scraping together to donate.
DonorsChoose is special like that – I can’t think of many other groups where donors are able to see first hand the impact and results of their contributions.
I’m always so proud to be a part of this event.
I’m all over it! Just did a donation to the Digital Photography Club. Go team!
Aw, the teacher comments turned me into a pile of goo. Awesome goo. I love this contest.
Since others have mentioned the American Express Members Project with Donors Choose in the running for the big prize, thought I’d mention this as well. Squidoo is giving away $80,000 between now and Oct 15th. They’ll give $2 for each vote a charity gets, and Donors Choose is one of them!
They just got my $2!
Check it out! http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-charity-giveaway
So I don’t take cabs next week. It’s good for my heart–in more ways than one. Kids will learn about the Holocaust, hear classical music, and have cellos to play!!
All of this is breaking my cold dead heart.
The letters from the teachers are awesome.
In tears here too – the teacher thank-you notes are so touching! (And such excellent sentence structure & spelling, too! Hee.) Those folks are the real heroes, doing everything with so little for such an important reason. I’m so happy we can help! Like Maria said, I’m always so proud to be a part of this event.
The Squidoo program is done. They’ve reached their goal.
@rabrab – HOLY MOLY! That was fast.
