Hey Sarah,
Here’s my dilemma…I have been dating this guy for about two months now. He’s sweet, good-looking, and a great kisser. Sounds good, huh? Well, the problem is that he’s really serious about our relationship. He’s talking to me about us still going out in two years and ending each conversation with “I love you”! I don’t feel like that at all, I mean, all that I wanted was a summer fling. I told him that when we first started dating, but it seems that he has forgotten it and has really fallen for me! I don’t want to hurt his feelings, but I can’t continue going out with him while he feels so strong about me and I have like no feelings for him. I could really use some help!!
Not in love
Dear Not,
I know you don’t want to hurt him, but you’ll have to talk to him. Tell him that you like him, and you like spending time with him, but that he’s moving way too fast for you and making you uncomfortable, and he’s got to tone it down with the heavy stuff.
I hate those talks, so I can empathize, but the longer you wait, the more damage you’ll do. Just get it over with and hope he understands.
