The authorial editorializing bugged me, right up until the end; DiLorenzo’s tendency to clutch his pearls dilutes his arguments. I will admit that I don’t particularly want to believe any of the evidence against Lincoln, but that evidence is compelling — that isn’t the point. The point is that that evidence should speak for itself, and DiLorenzo seems unwilling to let it do that. It’s meticulously researched and orderly, and it’s worth reading, but it could have done with many fewer asides overall.
